Attacks in Paris

Well come on Parents for starters, think about it:

"Mum, I'm going to Syria to join ISIS and become a suicide bomber after my A Levels"
"That's brilliant Mohammed, wait until I tell your uncle Akhbar, he'll be so proud, make sure you kill some filthy Kaffirs for your mummy"
"Thanks Mum, I knew you'd be proud!"
Is there an apprenticeship offered? Hard working terrorists

That just sounds like a smear campaign. You make dangerous inferences. Highly irresponsible.
A smear campaign, this is getting comedic now

Is it dangerous to infer that communites could and should be doing more, not just to inform the authorities but to educate and steer the young away from extremist activities.

Or is it more dangerous to deny that these problems exist and continue to bury heads in sand.
?

Apologies if my post was a little aggressive. I wasn't implying abusiveness I was just curious about the presumption that the figure is higher than the one Coleridge suggests
No offense taken Belfry, I just re-iterate that at no point have I put figures out there, further Coleridge put the number 2 million in this thread. In no way does my suggestion of "some" or "more than a few" come in any way shape or form near that.

Found out this morning that my wonderful fiancé had booked Disneyland Paris for a new year retreat back in August for us and the kids......"it was going to be a surprise" she said "you wouldn't have let me because of the cost" she said "how was I supposed to know" she asked.
Can't wait!!!!

Can't wait!!!!

You're more statistically likely to die commuting to or from work in the meantime.

Thank you.

If you believe in evolution then this has never been better evidence for it. To create a religion or belief group is to sort of impose an air of authority or superiority over others, IE creating division. Evolution shows that in the survival of the fittest the fittest survive and you always survive better in a group. Group together in a mass 'religion' or whatever and conflict is created because you see yourself as better than another no matter what they believe. There is then an obligation or feeling that you are better than they are because you perceive you are right and will survive and they won't.

Religion in effect does not exist, it is just an evolutionary creation that humans created to instill effective survival in numbers. It is the biggest thing today that supposedly divides those of strength between those non believers who are seen to be weak as a result. Outside of religion the exact same thing was happening 200 years ago when we used to enslave black people because white people saw them as weak, black people were barely classed as citizens in the USA no more than a century ago.

That creation of division was based on race yet like with religion there is zero evidence that race has anything to do with any form of weakness. In fact there is DIRECT evidence to the contrary that we are all descended from the African continent either way. Having race at all therefore is actually total rubbish because we were all born on Earth and descended from one and other at some point.

This is more or less the same as religion where there is direct evidence that the creationism spouted in the bible or wherever is total rubbish yet billions today stick with religion. The reasoning behind it is that not going with this ideology means you are left out of the survival group to fend for yourself and that is completely against our instinct for survival.

Either way, humans will create division through at times total rubbish reasoning whether it involves religion or some other idea, it is just the way we are.

I think there is a new breed of folk emerging in recent times

Religious Apologists

Most of these are not even of the religion they defend

They just like to argue the toss to appear high brow and smug with their Chorltonite friends

They can eat hummus around the dining table and talk about the poor misinterpreted terrorists

'They are not really terrorists'

Says one

'They only represent a small minority of muslims so can't possibly be getting their ideas from the Quran' says the other...having never read the holy book

'I blame the government'

Says another

'Have you tried this new range of sympathetically sourced grape juice?'

the last member of the group asks...

They all chuckle and go back to the Guardian crossword

That statement in itself denotes you think 'religion' started with Christianity...there was religion way before the supposed birth of Christ...going back to Neanderthal man

Of course, I was just referring to the one we here can probably most relate with.
