No it has not worn off as yet but a bit tired and irritable after my heroic journey :-). Not sure of the relevance to the cockney rags as I am unfortunately an exiled Mancunian having moved for work reasons and have attended regularly since the 80s.
The current system we have, loyalty points and cup schemes, is the fairest way of distributing tickets and I cannot see how offering Wembley tickets just because a person has attended one particular game as improving the system, particularly if that persons previous attendance at games is not even considered.
I have got my reservations about the cup scheme but can understand the reasons the club has introduced it. But to offer final tickets based upon attending one game would only alienate people.
OK fair points but a lot of peoe who don't go tomorrow will be demanding a Cup Final ticket if we get there. I can understand it if people have a very long way to travel, have too many family responsibilities, or are broke etc.
I hope you saw lots of deflated rags on the way home.
It is a fine line between incentivising fans to attend games such as this and alienating long term supporters so I do understand your point about encouraging fans to attend.
The fairest way seems to be offering additional loyalty points for attending games such as this so fans lower down the pecking order can build up their points. If I remember rightly, a few years ago, 50 loyalty point was awarded for the Reading Cup match but the club seem to have discontinued this policy.
