Letter Received today from MCFC:

Persistent Standing: Important Notification fro the 2011 -12 Season

Withe the new season fast approaching, we are currently reviewing our safety procedures in time for our opening game against Swansea City on Monday 15th Aug 2011, one area of the match day experience which requires our attention is the number of complaints that the club received in the last year relatng to persistent standing by supporters in some sections of the Stadium.

As you will no doubt aware, the club implemented a policy to tolerate standing in a number of blocks, predominantly in the south stand and then more recently to include the Singing section in block 111.

This was in direct response to the request of the supporters in those areas, many of whom had elected to purchase seats in these blocks for that specific reason. as I am sure you will appreciate, there has to be a limit to the area's in which we can allow persistent standing. The club has received numerous complaints regarding persistent standing in the block in which you are seated. (I'M IN 110)

We wish to make our match days enjoyable an experience as possible for all or our fans and, as such, we wrte to kindly request that yu and fellow supporters in your block remain in your seat for the majority of the match.

FANS WHO REFUSE TO SIT WHEN ASKED BY A STEWARD AND/ OR WHO PERSISTENTLY STAND, RUN THE RISK OF BEING EJECTED FROM THE STADIUM AND, IN SOME CASES, MAY HAVE THERE SEASONCARD CONFISCATED!!

Please help us to avoid such measures by co-operating with the request and help us to create an enjoyable experience for all of our fans!

Unbelievable. Surely he knows 110 is in the same situation as 111, in that pretty much everyone in there wants to stand and sing? Just because they've not officially designated it into the singing section (which I'm surprised about anyway) doesn't mean the fans aretn' of the same type; there are only so many seats in 111. If there was a cutoff point it would be 109, because I imagine there were a few complaints in there given it was a half and half block for most of last season. 110 has always been standing. He's got no chance of making us sit.

I dont think they will make 110 sit and if they make 109 sit I'll be fucked off having moved

I believe there will have been complaints yes. I've moved about 30 seats to the right as 109 became fully standing last season and my dad at 67 can't stand up all game every game. We didn't complain, just moved across a bit though it's still a pain in the arse as I knew everyone around me after being there for years.

To be fair you will get legitimate reasons like your own. I do question how many will have complained though. As you said yourself you didnt. You would also think the majority who know they want to sit down would avoid those blocks.

I've been in south stand block 119 since the start, nobody stood up until about half way through last season and continued till the end.I and lots of others complained about it, not everybody wants to or are able to stand up but have to because when people in front stand you can't see..
I've moved to level 2 this season because I'm not convinced they'll be able to implement this but I'm having to leave my friends and family so I will be able to enjoy the game. There are always two sides to every story!.

Im in 218 and the atmosphere is totally dire except for 3 or 4 big games,iv been thinking of dropping down a level for a few years now but hav'nt cos of mates and friends, hope you've done the right thing for yourself

Isn't there a disabled section at the back of 109 or 110? Just asking.
Yeah but it's much higher than the row below, so not affected by standing otherwise they would never see a goal as everyone stands up for attacks anyway

Just had a go at the new online ticket thingy to try and get a seat for a family member near us.

Has the seat planner gone where you can choose which seat you buy?

£38 cheapest ticket!! Now I may be wrong but is that not a massive price hike for this cat game compared to last season? Even after going platinum it works out at just under £40 a game for a junior and me. Would have thought Swansea would have been one of the cheapest fixtures to attend for non s/c holders.

This is not a moan, apart from that new online ticket service which I can't work out.

if they keep sending stupid fucking letters out like the one received today from Peter Fletcher about ''sitting down'' in every other section except 111, the crowds will dwindle off, people go to football match's to experience an atmosphere aswell as see ther favourite players, football Stadiums are not fucking libraries, the ''ETIHAD'' will never be a Maine Road!

Should be intresting to see if they intend to implement this.

so when I go to the first game of the season ( season ticket in the south stand ) they are going to force us to sit down? so in other words sit down or get kicked out? would like to see them eject 3000+ from the ground. They talk about atmosphere and how they want it yet they do everything to stop an atmosphere. when did you get this letter? or was it on the internet you read about it?
