Attending my first ever City game on 26th Oct

Motel Ones in the City centre may have good rates. Otherwise, the Ibis near the New Islington canal is also good - handy to go to the stadium.

If you find that prices are extortionate (which can be), try in Stockport... frequent trains to Manchester Piccadilly and it only takes 10 minutes (or less). Bus 192 (and 197 as well?) also available, 2 pounds for a single ticket, but it takes longer :-)

I actually booked a Stay Inn in Stockport. I love to walk anyway, so I might just do that on a matchday too, as I'd explore the city (or a pub or two) a little on my way anyway and only use public transport on Sunday. And I'm afraid I really need to visit the library now, as the internet says it's a 15 minute walk from the accomodation.

Edit: idiot I am. Salford, not Stockport.

And managed to buy my ticket for Sunday back to Budapest from Liverpool. What is the best way to get to Liverpool airport from Piccadilly? Northern Rail / East Midlands Rail and then bus, as Google suggests?

Northern Railway says there might be changes due to construction sites anyway...

Get the train to Lime St, There's loads of bus stops around Lime St to bring you to Liverpool Airport. Don't pay for a taxi it's very expensive, Liverpool Airport is a fair bit out from the City Centre.

Doesn't then Liverpool South Parkway make more sense? That is nearer to the airport, and it's one stop before Lime St station.

The bus from Liverpool parkway to the airport takes an age, but the buses are every 10 minutes
If you go via Lime st, the 500 bus is a 30 minutes journey, but buses are every half an hour, so I'd recommend Parkway if you want to go straight to the airport

If you get to Lime street early, stash your bags and spend a couple of hours in Liverpool city centre
Have a mooch at some iconic stuff such as the Cavern club and the central museums

it's a much nicer city centre than Manchester
