Audenshaw News - The Boundary... (Breaking news on P7)

Re: Audenshaw News - The Boundary...

The Boundary is in Audenshaw.

Ashton pub half decent, The Caledonian ?

Gone are the days when it was the place to be Friday through Sunday, like Benidorm without the sun.......

I'm sure the church over the road, and the primary school all but next door, not to mention The corporation Arms next to it, is delighted it is becoming a Wetherspoons..
Is this definite ?

Re: Audenshaw News - The Boundary...

I used to live in the Junction many moons ago, my mum was the landlady. Sad to see it knocked down. More recently drank in the Stamford where Jim the landlord was a big blue despite his misses being a avid UTD fan until it shut. Then the Dog and Partridge which had a mix until that shut too. Heard the same rumours re the Mechanics (Hooley Hill) and the Stamford but didn't know Wetherspoons were re-opening the Boundary.

Guide Bridge definitely

Yeah but Guide Bridge is Ashton, it's just got a bent little name to make it sound a bit more inspiring than it is.

Ok here goes, Audenshaw used to be a division of Ashton, but it hasn't been since 1st April 1974 when the local boroughs were dissolved and Tameside was formed. It now stands in it's own right.

Guide Bridge is part of Audenshaw, not Ashton, as is Danehead, Hooleyhill, Littlemoss, North-street, Walkmill, Waterhouses and Woodhouses.

In Guide Bridge there's a Shell Garage on Stockport Rd. Opposite that is a pharmacy which used to be my grandad's butcher's shop, which was in Guide Bridge, Audenshaw. (I was surprised too!)

You learn something new everyday! I have family and friends in those parts too, always thought it was Ashton. Also was always under the impression that Littlemoss was Droylsden!

I'm still going to class it as Ashton though :)

Finally, another curry place is due to open in Denton oppostie the taxi rank (next to a butty shop?). Forgot the name of it, but has an orange sign. Heard that the chef from Jaffrin is going there.

Live around the corner think its gonna be called shari or sharin's.

In other news just read the advertiser. KFC have applied for a drive through where Denton rock is on the m60.

It's callrd the Broom house. Been know as a bit of a shit hole since i was a kid. Was ran by two gay lads (I think) last, then shut down about 8 months ago.

You could be right about it becoming a food related venture, as they have built an extension on the back, which is the usualy sign.

Surely the market (especially in Denton) is saturated with fast food/ curry houses?
