Auschwitz

I am very interested and watch read stuff about auschwitz and the holocaust but I have 0 interest in visiting for me its a step to far , just me.

I almost went to Aushwitz a number of years ago.
I was all set to visit when I thought to myself - "is this something I need or want to see?"
The answer was no to both questions, so I went to Warsaw instead

The Nazis strictly forbade photography in the death camps but they did produce this album, which shows a transport of Hungarian Jews in summer 1944. The arrival , the selection for death or forced labour and the walk to the gas chambers. All old people , young children and their mothers were sent immediately for death. What kind of mind thought this was in any way acceptable ??

What did you make of Warsaw. I’ve never been but heard mixed reviews.

Because they were evil bastards.

The last time I was there was in 2012.
The city was much the same as most other cities in its' centre, with the usual mix of shops, bars, hotels and so on.
We paid to go on a day tour in a Polski Fiat ( can't remember the price) but it was well worth doing. Visiting an old Jewish family printers who still used the old block press and some historic sites incl the ghetto where Jews were forced to live during WW2.
There is a memorial which comprises of two wires slung between telegraph poles denoting the boundary of the ghetto.
The 3 days we spent there were interesting but I have no desire personally to return.
The main thing for me was to sit in the ghetto and also walk its' streets, you could really feel and imagine the history in that place.
(There are of course other things to do museums, parks etc).
I would recommend a visit based on my experience, but do a little research before you go to get the most out of your time there.

This isn't actually a brutal interrogation it's a reconstruction of his Nuremberg testimony. I think he was a witness for the prosecution.
