Average crowd histories

Unfortunately for a number of reasons the average attendance figures historically are not fit for for purpose.
Therefore any comparisons, generalisations are misleading and inaccurate.
Thanks for that - perhaps you could explain why they’re not fit for purpose?

Imagine being this bothered about the empty seats digs.
Only bothered when i think narrative starts to affect some influential agents thinking.. then we will say oh we should have been bothered to correct false narratives..get your retaliation in first as my old fella often said

I engaged with you this morning after being amazed by your stats, you're single aren't you ;-)

Joking apart, what I learnt from your stats i've been wondering today,

How close are we to overtaking any of the Clubs above us?

Rags Spuds, Arse, Dips not happening as their grounds are bigger than ours but Toffee's and Geordie's is possible

How close are we (although more games like last Tuesday then it won't help :-) )

I couldn't be bothered checking, thanks.

...and some napkin maths - if we start pulling in 60,000+ attendances after the expansion it will take us about 4-5 years to overtake Everton - about 8-10 to then overtake Chelsea. Newcastle, honestly we might not catch for a long time as their average attendance is a lot higher. We'd be talking several decades, assuming we continue to pull in bigger numbers for that time and Newcastle don't expand.

Good point - had totally forgotten about that. Hard to know in that case, their new stadium capacity is about 52k. If they sell out every game at that then we could be talking 8-10 years of us needing to get attendances circa 10k higher than them.

1. They did not have counters on the Turnstiles
2. Owners did not want to pay tax.
3. The number of games a season that any figures were available were minimal.

Not Rocket Science.
I guess historically that may have been true but how do we know other clubs didn’t have the same issues?

Interesting reads. What It resonates more than anything with me was just how skint me and everyone I knew was in 1985 haha.

Mods - feel free to delete if this has been done elsewhere - got into a discussion about historic support on the Forest pre match thread. I've created some post WW1 to present graphs for us v the other "big" non Arse/Rag/Dipper rivals. Some interesting stuff...should shut some of the no history mob up. Interesting to see how big Spurs/Toon/Everton have been historically

I realise the data is slightly flawed but for each club could you please provide the total number of seasons City had a higher average attendance/number of seasons the other team has had a higher average attendance?
