Away fans in home end again

Only time I’ve been in away end and cheered was Villa Park under under Alan Ball and needed to win to stay up, 2nd to last game I think before Liverpool ( keep it in the corner ) game
I was about 18 with my mates and stupid

I think the disgust at the minute centres around the fact that our club have indicated that they don’t trust us to go to Old Trafford in numbers and behave, but their morals and selfless concern for fan safety seems to mysteriously vanish when they sell tickets in our end to agencies knowing full well they’re being sold to away fans

This is a very good point. I'll also add United into the mix here. Both clubs have ridden roughshod over their own fans, but in United's case it's arguably worse because City fans can go on their website or rock up at their ground and buy tickets in their end for tonight's game no problem, whereas United fans haven't got the same freedom to do the same for the 2nd leg as you need a purchase history showing at least 3 City games attended. Of course, some will find their way in anyway - probably via a tout, buying hospitality (because for some reason, these restrictions don't apply to those who are prepared to flash a wad of cash), a friendly City fan who can buy an extra ticket, or through resale sites which are authorised by the club - but I find it astonishing that United literally have tickets on general sale to every Tom, Dick, and Harry for the 1st leg.

Truly amazing.

United (and City) want to avoid trouble by reducing the away allocation, then United put 1000’s of unsold tickets on open sale, as long as a United membership is purchased at the same time.

It really is baffling what both clubs have concocted up between themselves.

Think you have to purchase a membership first , I tried last night to see what happened and it got to the checkout point but wouldn’t process due to my registration being too new to buy certain products, unless it was my Manchester postcode giving it away.

I think 3 games attended at our place is a bit lenient, the league derby tickets normally go to points where you have to have upwards of 350 plus to attend.

Yet there's a price for non-members? My boss - a United fan - bought one yesterday and didn't have to buy an up to date membership, although because he's been a ST holder in the past they perhaps allowed it for that reason. Either way, if you're prepared to stump up a few extra quid you can get tickets in their end without a previous purchase history, whereas at City you need a purchase history of at least 3 games.

Regarding the 3 games attended, I don't think it is that lenient to be honest. Remember for the league game, there's already 40-odd thousand tickets accounted for to season ticket holders so once the away allocation is factored in, there can't be more than 8000-10000 tickets available to buy. Incidentally, the other half's 10 year-old grandson has been a United fan all his life, attended probably upwards of a dozen United games, but a couple of months ago dropped the bombshell on her family of mainly United fans - much to my amusement - that he's now a City fan! He's been to 2 games so far - Shakhtar and Sheff Utd - and has a ticket for Palace on the 18th so that's 3 games attended but for some reason (maybe because the Palace game is in the future?), he can't get a ticket for this game in his own right.

Fairplay to that female steward in 119, no problem getting stuck in and turfing the lad out on her own whilst other stewards just stood about.

I was in the away end at Huddersfield when we won 2-1 with that Sterling late winner.

I didn't celebrate Sergio equalising penalty, but me and another 2 blues went mental when Sterling scored, and rightly got thrown out.

You have to respect the home fans at all times.

Thrown out of the away end?? You must of been going really crazy ;)

As Port Vale get about five thousand max at home and I think they were allocated eight thousand tickets for the game I have no idea why any had to be in our end. They wouldn't have bought them from the ticket exchange as you can't put cup games for sale on there, so one has to wonder where they got them from.

I have been in the home end's when we have played away myself but if you wear no colours and keep quiet and respectful you are usually okay. Often you are sussed out though as you don't sing along or cheer a home goal.

They fucked up the sale, 2 tickets per season ticket but didn't keep records so fans went more than once & got handfulls.

Sat in the Portsmouth main stand with my Mrs many years ago.

Kept quiet when City scored twice

Portsmouth scored in the last minute to make it 2-2. Everyone was going mad apart from us two, We just sat still looking throughly pissed off.

It’s safe to say we were outed, but we were left alone.
