Away fans support the team

City fans have lost their humility. I remember walking away from the kippax as a 9 year old, we'd just been relegated from the prem, it was shit. Everyone seemed to be silent, then someone shouted "never mind boys, at least we get to go to Huddersfield next year." And everybody laughed. It seems the majority of you now expect nothing more than a win, in an arrogant rag like way. I call my dad and brother Munichs when they behave like this. Not to mock the death but in reference to their shit attitude. Sort it out blues, I'm starting to hate you.

I disagree. We have expectations now. The Squad is full of talent and we're owned by a very wealthy man. We deserve to win things and that's why people get pissed off at no City goals at The COMS for 3 Matches. Do we want the Pearce era back?

If Dabo and Corradi were the equivalent of De Jong and Tevez then I'd have been grateful for the draws.

Stats mean fuck all in black and white. I once remember us getting beat by i think it was either Boro or Bolton 1-0 and they didnt have a shot on goal all game

Bolton, wasn't it. Battered them for the whole 90 minutes, hit the woodwork several times then conceded a last minute penalty (or was it a Sun OG?). Even BFS admitted they got lucky that day.

Sun OG. My point is yesterday we didn't create the goal scoring chances that the stats suggest. It's been like that for weeks and is the main reason why we've only scored 15 all season. Average, very average at best!!!

And there's the problem. We don't have the creativity in midfield to unlock a mass defence (someone like an Ali B or a Berkovic). And you can be sure that there will be plenty more teams coming to COMS with the same tactics as Brum. I certainly would if I was an opposing manager.

But we did, we created numerous chances but didn't put them in the net. Poor finishing, not poor creativity!
Most of them were long range efforts well off target. That's not creativity. We simply don't get enough bodies forward and into/around the box.

Re: Away fans support the team

Stats don't tell the full story. At least against Blackburn Robinson was man of the match. Foster had two saves to make all game and one of them was a a de Jong effort!

Even west ham scored two at birmingam !

It's not ickle old ciddy at all. I agree we should be doing better, but I don't want to become a **** because we're not.

i agree, i also don't want us to become plastic...but you shouldn't confuse arrogance with expectation mate...we are far removed from that team you talk about and should be performing as such. What we witnessed yesterday may have been good enough 20 years ago, but not with todays squad

Re: Away fans support the team

as i was leaving york all those years ago i could only dream of being 4th in the prem - now that we are i can only dream of those days when i supported my team without demanding anything from them

Correct. There were balls being knocked forwards at the Derby but nobody to get a decent strike in.

Tevez constantly shooting on sight doesn't help.

What you've got to think about is the difference in approach Birmingham are going to use in a game against us and against West Ham. At home to West Ham they will have thought they'd have a good chance of taking all 3 points so they will have lined up in a much more attacking way. Away at City though is a different story, they'll think the best they could get is a draw so they line up in the way most likely to get that result; very defensively and parking the bus. They always had at least 8 behind the ball yesterday, and it's going to be very difficult breaking that many down. Every team has poor results; United drew at home to West Brom after being 2-0 up, Arsenal have been beaten at home by West Brom and Newcastle.

Re: Away fans support the team

Wine speaking but some input.

I do not think we are worse than any of the top 4 or 6 but we do lack winning consistency - which a lot of teams are also experiencing.

We are not the finished article yet and it is clear we need additions/changes.

We have started playing good football bringing the ball out of defense but are crowded out when we get into danger areas.

What to do.

Push up and leave yourself vulnerable?

If opponents midfield get behind the ball when we are attacking then our midfield need to also push forward. We aren't too vulnerable if opponents midfield are behind the ball.

For me we are a cautious team and need to take more 'risks' although I cannot see the real risk in team attacking opponents who defend, especially as we have a solid defense.

If we continue to play cautiously then potentially then teams that play less cautions and win will eventually over take us. They may also play less cautious and loose, so there is nothing concrete there.

I'd also say we have. The rub of the green has been against us for a while.

Ideas.

Try to break down teams that put men behind the ball.
Attack as 2-3 - 4 diamond formations, or any formation - but get men in their half.
-----------x
------x----------x
----x----x----x-----x
-------x---------x --- about half way line
------------x

I believe we have the payers to attack teams and also defend well.

Too cautious - almost scared of making a game of it.

Not the end of the world at the moment but not pretty and very frustrating.

For me it is clear we need a change of tactics or some new players ( players that are injured or out - not necessarily newly bought players) that would facilitate a change of tactics.

I think bob man has said as much.

thats how I see it too

more adventure and we should have won either the derby or yesterday or maybe both

yes you risk losing but one win and one defeat still delivers more points than two unadventurous draws

Re: Away fans support the team

am starting to not like the overall atmosphere at coms anymore, its getting worse week on week. It was better when we were in division 2 for fucks sake.

I blame it on the change of fans, everyone says its the same old faces, but im starting to see a change in the people around me. People saying is that the match programme when king of the kippax is shouted out

. We need the hamburg crowd back, working class folk. Not saying we dont have any now, but that dearer ticket prices affect the atmosphere more, there are no groups of lads just oldies ( no offence) and families, its fucking shit.

Also I for one will not be welcoming glory hunters, they can fuck off, there every thing I despise about football, especially uniteds ones.

Agree. Got tickets for Fulham and Stoke. Hopefully the same level of support that we gave at WBA will be given to the players and particularly the manager.

And no doubt you felt amply rewarded for the expense of going to Wolves. And despite the wretched performance you stayed solidy behind the woeful display. I wondered how long it would be before we reached 'the away fans are the only true blues'.

Not true fans. At lot at Coms have been season ticket holders for decades but don't go away. That said some of them (a lot) just go for a bloody good whinge or even a boo!

the away games are just miles better in every way, team play better, fans are better, the day itself is better.

i was bored to tears yesterday and not for the first time, if i did'nt have a season i would not go to home games either, might do the biggies but not teams that we know we have no chance of breaking down with the system we play.
i left work early to watch that shite, how foolish was that.

you having a bad hair day? your just like the rest of us you will always be there
remember we have played shit for years we have played good sometimes but its about our team and also about our true loyal supporters which i know you are one.
