Away fans / tourists in home sections

As it appears that no season tickets are been sold for the new North Stand development surely this stand will be given over to day trippers, tourists etc so city can charge them more for tickets.

A lot of the ethnic groups / fans you describe were supporting City so the problem is about having Madrid fans in the home end. Part of the solution could be encouraging more season card holders to attend but a lot don’t want “the hassle” of attending midweek matches as well affordability, transport problems, the weather, 2 home games in 4 days etc
They were. But a lot also weren't. They were supporting Real Madrid.

I accept City don't care who those fans support in the ground as long as City sell those tickets.

That's what it boils down to ultimately.

Like many other fans that have done, and will be doing, this is my last season in the CL Cup Scheme.

City can sell my ex-CL Cup Scheme ticket to who they want to next season.

Story doesn’t sound accurate. East stand top tier full of weedy and quiet fans yet someone laid out the Madrid “gobshite “
In truth, I'm joking about the East Stand top tier being full of weeds. Block 201 in the second tier (in line with the corner flag) - where I now sit having relocated from the North Stand a few years ago - is full of a mix of grumbling Blue Moaners who never sing, weeds (I'm joking), families sharing tickets (different folks every game), tourists - and last night a fair few Madrid fans - half and half scarves with the Madrid emblem showing. I can assure you that one of our stewards bottled out of removing two Madrid fans in the top tier - Block 306 - so a Scottish blue took the law into his own hands.............. Two of my sons were nearby and saw it all.

Yes the ones supporting Real Madrid were the problem. FWIW, I don’t even like the Champs League much. I prefer the FA Cup. I was over the Blue Moon when we won it for our players and owner but only went last night cos I try to get to every home game.

There’s too many games and the Club could have shown price restraint for the Inter Milan and Real Madrid games but did the opposite. That said, it’s not just about money. Midweek games aren’t that appealing to many.

One thing I noticed last night was Madrid fans in regular seats often got turfed out but those shouting their mouths off from corporate seats were like Teflon. No prizes for guessing why.

It is difficult to sell season tickets if you don't know if the stand will be ready in December or March. It is best to hold off.

Watched this one on TV from the States and even from here I could see how many people were eagerly taking photos of RM players celebrating their last two goals.

It's so disgusting.

Are these people mostly buying on the secondary market or directly through the club?

Day trippers and tourists will only buy tickets if we’re winning and competing for the league.
Over to you MCFC and Pep…

Completely agree that we have all sat in the "home" end at away games, behaving respectfully.
There's a couple of points I'd like to raise :-

Why were the tourist Real Madrid fans allowed to sit in designated home seats, when they didn't sell out their allocation ?

Why don't City place large, multi lingual signs stating that "away" fans will be instantly rejected from the ground if found in a designated home seat area ?

Two family members went last night and constantly asked Stewards to erect Real Madrid fans near them, but were ignored.

City are a billion-pound business that scrimp on security when they obviously know where some Agency tickets will end-up...
Like the idea of a sign. Can I suggest cállate la puta boca, cabron. Particularly near the corporate seats.

Watch the footage back from 3mins 29 and look at this section in yellow. There's about 50 actual City fans in there celebrating. And about 1500 tourists standing still. There is no way that that many people could get a whole section without the club being involved.

That was one of the areas that the Twente fans were grouped in a few weeks ago before they played the rags.

Either there's a mad amount of spares there or there's some dark club actions in force.

What makes you think that they’re not going to sell any season tickets in the new stand?

Obviously they’re not for the whole of next season because it won’t be built. But are you suggesting you think permanently no STs?

I bet they'll start selling them if we have another season or two like this one. Perhaps then they'll realise just how many supporters they managed to alienate during the good times.

Maybe I’ve a little more faith still remaining than some but I think there’s next to zero chance that they’ll open up a new stand and not offer up at least a fair proportion of it to season tickets.

And this is largly the result of the clubs policy regarding pricing, ignoring fans concerns, a backlash to the dangerous post match conditions in Istanbul/the clubs zero response, and the new extra game format.

To thousands of City fans playing in the CL was a pipe dream....now its becoming a chore and the vacuum created is being filled by a mixture of different and new fans.

Be careful of what you wish for City, a part full, silent, expanded stadium is not a good look for a global audience and global sponsors.

Who wants to sit in a restaurant or bar with the atmosphere of a morgue ??

We all want an ambience

But remember places with ambience are where the poor people don’t go

Why? Look at Liverpool’s new stand. They offered barely any season tickets at all

But remember places with ambience are where the poor people don’t go
....or where they are made to feel welcome, recognised, valued and appreciated.

That doesn't require affluence or social status.

Everyone should count equally.
