Away fans / tourists in home sections

There's going to be an influx of Egyptians this weekend. This is THE game for them with Salah and marmoush on show and possibly the only chance it will ever happen if Salah leaves the dippers in the summer. Expect Egyptian daytrippers in big numbers.

Should be plenty of kids there with their mummies then.

That's a fair old way for them to come.

That would be suppression of trade surely? If they have legitimate trading licences they should be allowed to make a living.

I’ll be absolutely honest and say I really don’t understand the fixation with half and half scarves. To some people they are a reminder of their visit, to some they become part of their collection of souvenirs.

Don’t worry I know you will castigate me for such calumny but I scratch my head. I’m there to watch my team play football not to notice what folk are wearing.
MANCHESTER CITY THE BEST TEAM IN THE LAND AND ALL THE WORLD. :-)

I now retire to consider how to cope with the aftermath!
You have to be a particularly busy **** to be that arsed about some blokes grafting and earning a few quid on snide scarves.

Ignore them. It's just a pyramid selling scheme....

Yep, I got in at the Newcastle/City game at St James Park by using one of these sites, and i know other City fans who did the same ..... they will have plenty of seats on sale on these sites for tomorrow's match against Liverpool, that's for sure ... although time to acquire them is now probably getting a bit tight.

Sorry. I was rude questioning you comment. I think you might have been inspired by the discussion around the nature of fans attending the Real Madrid game and by the Egyptian Kings, Salah and Marmoush. For Egyptians this game will likely be very newsworthy and interesting.

Egypt though is unlike much of the middle-east in that it is not a modern artificial state created by a foreign colonial power. It has some modern and recent upheaval e.g., Nasser and the Suez canal but nothing like the history of modern wars like Iraq, or Iran. Iraq occupies what was was once Mesopotamia, but it was carved up by the Ottoman and British empire. Egypt was not. Most immigration is sparked by war and conflict. That is why there is an Iraqi community, where my Dad is from. It is very large if you include 2nd generation Iraqis. The Egyptian community will be very small in comparison. My Dad came over in 1963 to study civil engineering at the University of Manchester and he met loads of Iraqi students there and my Mum. One friend became his best man and many became life-long friends until old age started to pick them off.

The second factor mitigating against an influx of Egyptians is that you need a lack of City interest to enable this and this is a Premier League game at the weekend. Tomorrow almost all seasoncard holders will show up and it will be very popular with City matchday supporters who will have bought tickets for this game a long time ago. You might get the odd Egyptian there, but I don't expect to see an influx.

I bet you don't have to queue online for 3 hours to get two tickets in different parts of the stadium.

Just been on football net tickets two tickets sat together for tomorrow £250 +£90 handling charge.

Easy to get tickets lololol.

Well it won't be stopping any time soon because clubs get a percentage of the ticket sales that these online ticket agencies make ..... the clubs are releasing tickets to them with their blessing.

You can buy tickets online to watch ANY club now, via these ticket agencies .... and all events are usually covered, not only footballing ones .... music concerts, anything you like .... there's always some agency who are than happy to rip you off.

Me, and a few mates, only managed to get into Newcastles ground by buying tickets from one of these places, and although they were in the home section we were paying a lot more than the Newcastle fans in there were!

The pressure from the fans is growing. It can't keep on being ignored by the club.
