In your individual opinion you think it is tinged with racism. In my individual opinion I think you’re fucking miles off the mark. I also find that you’re missing the point.
You’re the only person who I’ve ever seen push the ‘Asian’ thing with this topic.
White North Americans, South Americans and Europeans have all been part of the influx of tourists at City. And I actually find them to be the ones who don’t seem to be City fans much more than, especially, East Asians (who I find to be the most enthusiastic about City of all the races of tourists).
The one tourist I’ve got so sick of that I told him to ‘fuck off’ was a white guy. He sat next to me for a game last season and spent the most of the game texting on his phone, only looked up when a chance occurred and was actively disappointed with City scoring and tried to push me away as I grabbed the lad on the other side of him as we were both up celebrating (like I often do) while the tourist stayed sat down.

And I have never heard a City fan ever even suggest they aren’t welcome at City.
Since the 2022-23 CL semifinal through to the last few weeks with the Madrid and Liverpool games, it has been very noticeable that there are more tourists in the ground. Like I’ve said many times, it’s very easy to tell when they’re a tourist. Also like I’ve said many times, I’ve been an away fan in the home end at a fair few grounds watching City and in all but one I tried my best to blend in. The one I didn’t, I deservedly got booted in the head.
When you’ve been to Leeds, did you stand outside the main entrance with a half’n’half Leeds-Millwall scarf on and a City shirt on holding a ManUnited superstore bag and have your picture taken completely oblivious to your ridiculousness and oblivious to the fact Leeds fans wanted to fill you in? did you sit in a season ticket holders seat and ask him to move somewhere else so you can sit with your mate? when he told you ‘no’ did you say ‘fuck you shitty Leeds’ to him? did you pull a set of clippers out and start cutting your mates hair? did you fall over seats to film Millwall warming up and shout ‘RYAN RYAN RYAN’ at Ryan Leonard? did you get confronted by Leeds fans about your City shirt and then pull a Leeds shirt out of a bag much larger than anyone else in the stadium was allowed to bring in and put that over the top of your City shirt? did you keep standing up during the game and ask a Leeds fan behind you to take a picture of you? did you film most of the game and watch it through your phone or spend most of the game taking quick videos of yourself and texting mates? did you FaceTime someone and show them the game through your phone? did you lean forward and put your hands on your head every time Milwall had a chance? did you stand up and film Millwall fans singing with a big smile on your face? and when Leeds fans around you told to ‘sit the fuck down you fucking Manc ****’ did you laugh at them and say ‘your fans are shit, their fans are singing, so I’m filming them’? did you sit back in your seat closing your eyes shaking your head when Leeds scored? did you jump up and celebrate when Milwall scored? did you laugh at Leeds fans around after they told you to ‘sit the fuck down you Manc ****’ after celebrating Millwall’s goal? did you stay behind after the game and walk over to the away end and take pictures of yourself in front of Millwall fans?
Excessive ticket prices are contributed to be the influx of tourists. Tourists are paying anything between £250 to over £400 for a ticket from worldwide sports tour sites who City give tickets to in large chunks, and when Soriano and co. see that they can get those prices from people from all around the world, they push prices up for normal City fans through the City ticket site and if they price us out they don’t care because they can get even more from the sports tour sites. This is why we’ve gone from £69 for the CL group stage home games combined price in 2022-23 to £192 for them all combined this season. It’s all tied in together.
The large chunks of tourists also mean that when City fans try and buy tickets through the normal City ticket service, it’s very rare you can get two seats next to each other, never mind a family or group of mates. Yet they go in the ground eight rows apart and see three full rows of tourists between them.

If it was a Villa fan for example it wouldn’t have happened, not to that extent anyway.
Liverpool , and its fans are blameless, they airbrush everything about their problems with fans , they literally get away with murder. Nobody pulls that club , nobody dares to , they’re a “legacy club”.
I just hope City are ready for the negativity for all this when it hits the press.
This club is better than that , so fucking lead by example , the pricks who run the ticketing office.
Especially for games like Liverpool or United at home.

That's it in a nutshell. Regarding Liverpool they have been involved in countless incidents regardless ourselves and on the whole they have got off scott free. Nobody is ever arrested or held to account. From standing on police vans bricking our coach, to spitting on Pep and splitting a 15 year old girls head open with a pint glass full of coins. That's a few that immediately come to mind. All this grows a simmering resentment that festers. To add insult to injury our own club continually warn our fans that they will be banned and arrested if we dare to voice our displeasure at the Scouse royalty by chanting. They wrongly label it as tragedy chanting and it builds the anger even more. Fans have been warning all this will result in spilling over into violence and that's exactly what happened. Thankfully it wasn't worse.
At the top of people responsible are Merseyside police. For years they have gleefully turned a blind eye while the feral scum of Liverpool have committed crime after crime against our club. Next is our own police who also appear to apply the law robustly on our own fans but also have a blind spot regarding the scousers.
Lastly our own club who ignore all the shit thrown at us by the scousers and lecture US to behave, still trying to curry favour with the old cartel, as much good as it has done for them eh?
Nobody is condoning the violence that occured but many will understand why it eventually happened.

When I've been to Leeds, I've sat with a Leeds fan. I am a tourist on that occasion because I do not support either side, and I am just going because I can and because I like football.

My opinion so far mate. Fair enough. I know you are frustrated with how our club is being run and I can understand that.
That said, I was sufficiently concerned with what we my call “tourist mania” that I exchanged messages / DMs with City Matters and 1894 Reps. (about the wider context rather than anything they’d said or written). They have been very fair and correct in making it clear that every Blue is welcome.
I will making similar points at the next OSC meeting I attend.

@Manchester33 had a good view of it as it was just a couple of rows in front of him and he posted his observations on this thread on Sunday night or Monday morning (can’t remember when exactly). Said that the guy did indeed pull his phone out and started filming the celebrating Liverpool fans, and some fans mistook that as a sign that he was one of their lot. Of course, that doesn’t excuse what then happened as it was proper OTT but emotions have been running high in this fixture over recent years and with the issues of away fans in home areas too, it doesn’t take much to spark something off in such a high-profile match.

I’m the first to criticise the club a lot of the time but what have they done wrong in this instance? They sold a ticket in the home end to a city fan who got his phone out and people started punching him. Why is the club at fault?

Poor fucking guy :( the 5 idiots will now be punished and rightfully so.
It literally says ‘Asian 20.9%’ ‘black 12%’. I then did this thing where I added those two figures together and it gave me a larger number after they were reckoned up. That figure is not 43.2%.

No it wouldn't. The problem is tickets from the 3,000 allocation going to those who are not city fans. Whether it's club employees, official touting agencies, or fans selling to unofficial agencies or on the open market is irrelevant. Individual fans sending tickets to agencies won't result in several tickets together as seen at Anfield and Ipswich.
A few years ago there was an article online about touts having thousands of STs at PL grounds. They sell at slightly above face value which could be 30-40% above the cost of the ST seat.
If these touts bought STs when they were readily available then it's possible to have several next to each other at home games. However for away games they just buy under one name and distribute via F&F assuming they have the points.
We need a system where only City fans can apply for away game tickets. Hospitality ST holders would have to nominate the user, who ideally would have a membership number. This would get rid of some of the problems but would address mass touting scams. We don't want to have random ticket checks for away games even though that would help.
