Who believes that ? Overrated Scouse boyband with a few good tunes. Take That piss all over them.

I suppose record sales and influence mean nothing!

On that basis, One Direction are the best band in the world...

Lennon was talented and I love Hey Jude, the rest is dire

You probably just picked one of the worst songs they ever made made.

Green Day
Blink-182
Fall Out Boy
All American Rejects
Sum 41

I hate that American punk rock/pop crap.

Green Day were good, love the cover of 'Time of my life' and the Dookie album had some good tunes, all the rest you mentioned are pretty shite

however, one Blink 182 song - the cover of 'I miss you' i really like

Time of Your Life is actually called Good Riddance and I am pretty sure it is not a cover.

I Miss You is also not a cover.

Your right on both ! I saw Glen Campbell sing it once and always thought Green Day covered it.

Fair play to both bands for releasing two amazing songs

Ha ha, well that just shows you how personal music is! Some of the bands named in this topic are some of my all time favorites and yet they turn up here, The Specials....Awful? Come on!

Bollox era Pistols was superb and still stands up well today 35 years on.

The rest of the rubbish that carried their name was just pissabouts that should never have seen the light of day (My Way/Something Else and all that carp).

If One Direction are shifting records after 40 years and their influence everywhere then I'll be in agreement...

Let me elaborate.

Sex Pistols were awful because they were supposed to be awful. The idea of punk was to be against everything else - to be the opposites. And how can you be opposite to cleanly produced pop music? That's right: be the worst you possibly could be. They played guitars out of tune, hired a guy that couldn't even play bass and made sure their singer was grottiest, snarliest, most disgusting human being on the planet. Their influence is unquestionable, and they are arguably one of the most important bands of all time, but they were awful because they were manufactured to be just that.

The intro to 'Pretty Vacant' is fantastic... Also liked 'Anarchy....' I wasn't a punk fan though!
