Every time I have seen him 1-on-1 against someone pacey or strong, he has looked suspect. Not overly impressed. Even in a 5-0 rout, saw it again yesterday.

Agreed, jury is still out for me. Vulnerable against pace and against Lyon was not convincing albeit the whole defence was poor.

Duncan Castles has been highly critical of Laporte since he joined City and recently said that he thinks he still has the potential to be a big money flop for us. Anyone would think he had an agenda.

Quiet and efficient...the best kind of defender!

As our only left footed CB, he is invaluable, not only for outlet passing, but covering the marauding full back and the pinpoint cross field pass to the right winger.

Undroppable, at present. Restable, but not droppable.

He’s certainly the best one when we are bidding possession. He maybe left footed but to me he is as near to both footed I have ever seen in a CB.

Whether he is so clever and dominant that we don’t see the last ditch sliding tackles etc associated with the best defenders in the league as he is above that. Or whether the one on one and when we are against he is not quite do good is the question mark for me.
