Very special talent, developing into one of the finest left cb in Europe. So confident on the ball , superb passer and good in the tackle

When we first signed Laporte, I thought he'd struggle against pacy forwards.

He's proved me wrong.

Sublime passing, excellent positional awareness, enough pace to be in the right spot when we're stretched.

Laporte is our best defender so far this year. Another great Pep signing.

He's added aggression to his game, when he first arrived I felt for a guy of his size he was quite weak, he now is a beast and will only get better, same for John Stones, he's definitely beefed up.

Excellent player.

Are they that far off now? None better in the Prem IMO.

They probably aren’t; although I think they need to play more games as an established pair.

My comment though was as much about how much I rate both players.

Don’t want to get carried away but I am wondering if they can become the best pair this country has seen since Hansen and Lawrenson?

A few silly passes, but he’s turning out to be a really good buy. He slips across to cover Mendy well when he disappears upfield. I like his calmness on the ball, I haven’t checked his stats yet, but I’m sure they’ll just get better through the season.
Solid defender, who can score too.
Excellent!!!

He comes off as too casual at times and that’s a sign of a player who’s very confident in his abilities. (Ederson anyone?) Love it. I had my issues but he’s class and it’s undeniable.

Agree with the poster who pointed out his aerial ability. Very Pleasant surprise at how efficient he’s been and it’s a must in this team.

We'd need Phil the face to retire though first

He has settled brilliantly. Calm and accomplished on the ball, strong in the tackle and a beast in the air.
With those attributes he is perfect not only to play peps system but to withstand the physicality required when defending in the premier league. Namely winning long balls to big men.
