Aymeric Laporte 2018 performances

Anybody know anything about an apparent foot injury he picked up on Saturday?

Physioroom have him in doubt for Wednesday.

I thought he looked comfortable in the opening minutes and then got caught napping, got too tight, and then hit some wayward passes. After that, he looked more assured, but given how blunt Everton were, he couldn't have asked for an easier afternoon.

As I think Delph isn't really fit I thought Danilo would be LB for CL vs dippers.

Now I think Laporte will be LB after the warm up at Goodison.
Maybe Laporte even has a better ball control and that's what Pep likes.

Danilo would do as well, who can put in a great shift in big matches.
He didn't do bad vs Salah in January after Delph went out, did he?

I’m not a tactics/positional expert but it seemed like a hybrid back 3/4 type thing going on. I thought he played the position well and agree with @Pablo1 and @Tevez City points.

We’re exptremely spoiled at the CB position now. What a time to be a blue lol

I describe the formation as 3-7-0. Ota, Vinnie and Eric were very much a back three.

It was very fluid. At times Laporte was really high up and Walker would drop back, at other times Walker would go forwards and Laporte would drop back, and yet other times, both would go forward and Fernandinho would become the 3rd CB, or both would drop back as Otamendi carried the ball forwards.

It's positional play in a nutshell. Everything was dictated by the position of the ball.

I think he has been the best defender so far. Overall he is marshalling Salah well.

You’re right but he’s been no better than average.
Kompany, Walker and Otamendi have been absolutely appalling although at least Otamendi isn’t scared of receiving the ball.

The fact he decided to show Salah onto his left foot for their third goal is pretty damn worrying.

£55m on this lad. He’s slow and is rubbish on the ball. He was garbage at Everton and I’m flabbergasted Pep decided to play him v Salah.

He's not a LB. Very harsh to judge him on the two games he played there and he was not garbage against Everton.

Showing Salah inside onto his left was really strange but yeah I’ve been impressed with him on the left, very tidy in possession and he has a good cross on him as well.

Man of the match tonight gave virtually nothing away , very cool on the ball considering he was playing out of position , would start him against the Rags and play three at the back
