Stones has too many mistakes in him. I just hate overpaying for potential (see Sterling). Simply adds more pressure on these young minds with a huge price tag on their back. Not to mention the media will never stop quoting the sum until every kid who watches football byhearts the price. Why not put hope on Denayar, that he comes good under the training of one of the best manager and coaching staff ?

Sterling was a bargain dont be brainwashed from the scum infested media!! Stone will also be a bargain at 50m

I very much hope Denayer is given a chance next season but with Demichellis leaving and Kompany as reliable as a MK1 Escort and Pep not fancying Mangala then we need to bring in two players.

I also think that given Pep's love for players that can play a number of positions that Denayer will find plenty of games at CB and/or RB.

As for "overpaying" that's very subjective given our increasing revenue for the season just gone and a further increase this coming year through TV money. If they are players that Pep wants and that's the price we have to pay then we wither pay it or go back to plan B's (Sinclair instead of Hazard etc).

I know which problem I'd prefer.

How do you know Pep doesn't fancy Mangala ? Even if that's the case, we are still bringing in Laporte. So Kompany/Laporte/Otamendi/Denayar. Isn't 4 enough for 2 CB positions ?
Stones is not going to improve our defense straight away. Maybe in future he might become good. The comparison to Hazard is wrong. Hazard was class already. Stones is just overhyped.

That's the one thing that concerns me regarding stones and laporte. Both are early 20's and have 10 years left (hopefully).
Even if a youth player shows signs of being world class, he won't get a game ahead of a 40-50 million pound player.
It makes the management look like they've wasted money, hence Bony being preferred to Kelechi.

But do you reckon we had any kid ready for first team action in Sterlings place?

With similar attributes and quality?

No, to my limited knowledge. But, Denayar is a Belgian international already. He must be given a chance.

Four CB's would be enough. But you've listed 3 & 2/5ths there. Kompany is now a liability and Denayer can play RB.

I'll know I'm right regarding Pep, Mangal when he gets sold. If we start the season with six CB's then I'll have been wrong.

You're just wrong and it's being borne out by who the manager is buying.
