His pass completion rates are better, but that's because he has an aversion to positive football. He is not just awkward on the ball, he is uI don't think Mangala is especially poor on the ball. He's looks awkward at times but i believe he has better passing stats this season than Otamendi whose passing is overrated and nothing special and indeed any other defender at our club. He keeps it simple and doesn't give the ball away. What you want in a defender imo. I wouldn't say any of our current defenders are especially great on the ball, and i include Kompany in that. He, like Otamendi, both look naturally comfortable on the ball but when put under any kind of genuine pressure they just lump it down the wing and give the ball away
What Upheaval? Also his reputation is that of a young defender who is comfortable on the ball. Don't think anyone is suggesting he is World class. But if you ask me, Id say he has a better chance of becoming WC than Mangala does. Its difficult to guess Peps summer plans, and I guess much does depend on Denayers future,however......if he chooses to bring this lad in,then Managala, given his apparent lack of technical skills, and his desire to play first team football,is definitely the most likely to leave, possibly even as a make weight in any Laporte deal.
Is this kid worthy of the reputation? plus the upheaval? I haven't seen much of him.
