He's been injured for near enough two seasons, I'll be amazed if he ever plays 25 games in a season again. With him fit every game and the players we've got now, we would piss the league.

Has improved a lot through the season.
Can understand why he decided to stay..He'd just had a horrible injury in April and Bilbao were very supportive during his injury,so he probably felt it wasn't 'right' to leave just like that,especially being Basque..Should've tried to see how this season goes and at 50 M €,think we would still have paid it this year but signing a new contract with a higher release clause (65 M €) was dumb as it puts off most if not all interested clubs.
With how Bilbao deal with transfers,he might be forced to spend the rest of his career there,killing his international career too before it's even started.

Why would it kill his international career btw ?

So he has a £55m release clause. I think Marquinhos will be far cheaper, though with Silva's injury record I can't see PSG willingly selling another CB.

My only worry with Marquinhos is he's very slight and lacks any ariel prowess. Laporte actually makes more sense because he's capable of playing LB too.

Marquinhos can play RB as he did fair bit when David Luiz was there

Yeah he's not dominant aerially but he's adept. around 55% won the last 3 seasons.
