Oh no...
He is one of Europe’s most highly-rated younger defenders and Aymeric Laporte looks almost certain to follow İlkay Gündoğan through the doors of the Etihad as part of Pep Guardiola’s squad overhaul.Aymeric Laporte is considering staying at Athletic Bilbao, and is waiting for their counter-offer before making a decision. if he doesn't want to come...shouldn't bother pursuing him then..show trust in Denayer

Bilbao newspaper El Correo is reporting that as soon as Laporte is fit to play again, he will be signed by Manchester City. The Basque source states that in 15 to 20 days he could receive final clearance to play football again, after being sidelined since late March
Who to believe??
Goal.com
For now i am keeping an open mind but i would say the local paper with local sources probably know more but we'll see i guessDid read that , but apparently this Goal article is more recent....
more details as below:
However, City are 'willing' to pay the €50m release clause if Laporte decides to leave, at the request of Pep Guardiola. [Goal]
There are rumours City have offered a €7m p/y contract to Laporte. The decision should be made in next two weeks. [Goal]
My point is he would rather stay at a club which plays well within it means rather than follow pep to City , then I am not sure. City are now big enough I feel , that solely throwing money at players in wages shouldn't be the only factor in moving to us. We now have the best coach in the world to boot.
