Assuming we wouldn't have to pay over £35m, VVD would be my first choice for centre back.

I believe we need five more players in this window. A GK, two full backs, a centre half and a versatile defensive midfielder.

Pickford
Walker
Mendy
Van Dijk
Fabinho

With Liverpool and Chelsea in the mix VVD will go for £50m plus.

Please no, can't say how much I hate this guy. He is 23 years old and still has no ambitions to become a successful football player. I understood that he didn't want to come here last year being injured. But seriously, its time for him to step up. And what is he doing? Signing a new contract at a mid table club, winning nothing for years. At the same time we should be concerned that Real or Barca don't want so sign him. They can scout him with ease but are not interested in him. If he was as good as his release clause is high they would have triggered it a thousand times.

Laporte is mentally weak, he is not ready to fight and go through difficult times. Champions League? Winning the league? All he wants is to play football. That's okay, but at the end of his career he might think about what could have been.

I hope we don't sign him. He can stay where he is now and in 15 years no one will remember him :)

Not sure about this. Without Vinny we lack leadership. Much rather us bring in Bonucci.

No! We need youth. Bonucci is 30. Signing players like him is going to result in us having to splash 200m+, every other summer.

Who is to say Laporte or Stones won't become leaders?

In time Stones can become a leader yes. But that is in 3 to 4 years time.

It is not like we are signing plenty of 30+ players so not sure what you are on about in that regards.

Very well put! Couldn't agree more!

Otamendi (29), Kompany (31), Kolarov (31). Stones (23). The last thing we need is another 30+ year old CB.

Don't know if we'll be back in for Laporte, but I'm pretty sure we will sign a centre half this summer. Four centre halves seems sensible, considering one of them is particularly injury prone.

Rudiger is one to watch.
