They were taling about bilbao only playing basque players, and sayig how barcelona should do the same if they are so pro catalan. Muniesa said they played with academy players, and said "how about city?" I told him we also played academy players, more than barca even so i dont know what your problem is?

Sorry that was worded poorly. My comment wasn't aimed at you. It was aimed at Muniesa who stumbled into a conversation that he knew nothing about and then assumed the conversation was about his academy and then decided to take a swipe at ours.

His buy out clause is €50m = £39m (£38.68m actually)
Pay it and he's ours. Far better than Stones.

If we get this guy who goes? Mangala, kompany, ottamendi, denayer ? Can't see us carrying 5 centre backs.

Really don't think we need another CB. Get denayer back and keep vinny fit then CB should be fine. Denayer can also cover rb so just left back upgrade required in defence.

People who are not a fan of Otamendis will hate this guy. sent off 5 times already in La Liga and he's 21. And on the whole he's no better than Mangala
He has Mangala's pace for sure. But he can pass under pressure - something Mangala has failed to do well and IMHO Managala's only problem (aside from DeMichalis of course).

Laporte can also play left-back and will probably replace Kolarov who simply can't defend well enough thus giving us the option of left back or third centre half.
Vinny would be fine if he could stay fit but he can't. He'll miss 10 games a season minimum from now on. DeMichalis will be gone - as I believe Mangala will be as well. As such Denayar, Humphreys and Tosin will get there chance pre season to step up to the plate. I suspect the later two are more likely to succeed than Denayer. Indeed I personally believe Humphreys will be a super star.

He has 80% pass completion this season...Obviously lower due to Bilbaos tactic of just lumping it up to Aduriz. But he has misplaced over double the short passes Mangala(89% pass completion) has. Obviously that doesn't show how they fare under pressure but does allude to his possession game being no better.

And it's actually now 6 red cards as he got sent off today.

I hope were not in for him

89% possession for City who play possession football for the sake of it rather than trying to hurt the opposition isn't that good. Absolute gash when fighting off the gegenpress against Liverpool and the Britannia press at Stoke.

Highest of all our central defenders though (otamendi 85, kompany 84, demichelis 86)

As I say possession stats mean eff all as far as far as City are concerned who pass the ball in front of the opposition for ages during a game.

Still puts himself in position to get sent off with the numerous yellows he picks up for his poor tackling

Laporte - 31 yellows and 6 reds in 100 games

John stones - 5 yellows and 0 reds in 66 games

Sorry for my ignorance, as I haven't seen anything of him , but is he a walking red card case ?

That record doesn't really inspire confidence , especially as Otamendi already can look like a car crash in waiting . Do we need another ?

You're not really comparing like with like there though.

You're far more likely to be booked or sent off in La Liga than the Premier League. Take the 2014/15 season for example:

Premier League 1397 yellow cards, 73 red cards.

La Liga 2039 yellow cards, 95 red cards.

You also have to throw in playing style, Bilbao play a very frenetic style that invites many 1v1 situations too

They are very different players, as well, IMHO

Well Sergio Ramos holds the record of 14 La liga red cards in 370 games

Laporte has 6 in a 100 games, well on course to overtake if he spends his career in Spain.

The premier league record is 8, shared by R.Dunne, P.Viera and D.Ferguson

So what you're saying in that Stones has 34 matches to raise his game? ;)
