Aymeric Laporte

I'll take him as Pep has obviously seen something great in him, but he's had a poor season and even our own Mangala is ahead of him in the French picking order. Wouldn't say he's any better than Otamendi, either.
Don't go on international selections. They don't want Laporte to be sitting on the bench so he plays for the U-21. He is way way better than Sakho/Mangala. A lot of coaches like to stick with the players they trust from the beginning.

If this means we're not going after Stones, all the better. Possibly one of the most over-rated players in the PL. Almost every time I've seen him play, htere's a mistake in him. We've got enough of that type of CB already!

Decent signing but what worries me is why the fuck does he have a capital Y just randomly floating about in his fucking Twitter?

Stupid ****.
That is so true.

Players we sign usually get injured the minute they turn up.
This lad's already crocked!
Anybody know what the injury is?

Still don't see the need in this transfer unless we play 3 at the back or sell Mangala. Denayer/Kompany/Otamendi/Mangala is fine, and enough has been spent on CB's - this will be another risky £40m that could have been spent elsewhere IMO. We could end up about £70m down on a keeper & CB that seem unnecessary signings (don't care how much we spend but there is a limit & if we miss out on other players in key areas (i.e. CMs/fullbacks) because of these transfers then I'm not sure they're so wise).

He may be good on the ball but if we don't get our CM targets in then he'll be just as useful as Mangala hoofing it long to Aguero.

Broken Leg & Dislocated Ankle :(
Bugger!
Bad injury that for a footballer. Minimum 9-12 month recovery to full activity.
Tbh I would steer clear of this one until he has proven himself for Bilbao. No wonder they are so keen to cash in!!

I think given his age its worth the risk, i've not seen much of him but for him to be 1 of Pep's number 1 targets speaks volumes

I think if we are getting him for 5 years then it's worth the wait for him to get fit,it probably complicates things with regard to who we let go in the summer,we don't want to end up short at the back again.I am going to be glued to the transfer forum,it'll be tracking planes time again haha

If he has suffered a fracture dislocation of the ankle it will be an awful lot more than 3-4 months Karen.
Ligaments will take longer to recover and there is potential for damage to the joint itself.
Straight forward fibula fracture would be 4-6 months.
Just hope there is a performance related clause in any contract agreement given the sums involved. Must be.

It's been reported 3-4 months so we'll have to see,if it is a year we must surely reconsider

I am sure Bilbao are v keen to sell right now!
Have just looked at the video of the injury and it definitely looks like much more than a simple fracture. His foot gets caught in the turf and rotates outwards. Papers reporting dislocation as well as fracture and it certainly looks so.
Tragic for the boy but this transfer has got massive risk to it.

Bilbao are never keen to sell any of their players. They have never ever sold players for a penny less than the release clause under the current president. Bilbao would be more than happy to keep Laporte. Extremely stubborn club.

So not buying the argument they are "lying" about the recovery time so they can just cash in..

NEW JUST IN

Marca are reporting that a deal for 21 year old center back Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Club Bilbao is all but confirmed for 39.6 million, with the deal near enough finalized, and looking likely to be City's 3rd signing of the next transfer window, when announced.
Who are the other 2?
