There could be yet another big name departure at Athletic Club this summer, with Manchester City looking to tie up a deal for Aymeric Laporte over the coming days.

The French defender has had an offer on the table since March, but the Basques are notoriously hard negotiators and will look to recoup the full 50 million euro buyout clause in his contract.

That particular deal runs until 2019, and there had been rumours he would be offered a new one with improved wages, but it now looks more likely he will move to England.

Having suffered with a serious injury at the end of last season, Laporte will not be in action at the European Championships, which kick off with hosts France against Romania on Friday night.

Should he make the move, it will be the third straight year in which City have spent big on a defender, with Eliaquim Mangala and Nicolas Otamendi joining previously.

Wouldn't worry too much about that. Laporte has decided to join City, and it should be confirmed in the next few days. Paperwork being drawn up as we speak.
