Aymeric Laporte

What City want and want I want aren't mutually exclusive.

Never seen more than five minutes footage of Laporte, just plenty of people saying what a prospect he is.

How can I miss what I didn't know what we were getting.

I'm sure City are pissed at the level of time wasted but shit happens and we now have an extra £40m to throw at Alaba!!

@tolmie's hairdoo - Remember where you heard Alaba?? :)

I think we have a new generation of fans who are becoming pretty arrogant or behave like spoilt kids who can't have everything their own way.
Every team and player have the right to choose who they sell or play or sign for........sure we can be disappointed that a transfer has fallen through........however we get the same predictable reactions...insult the player or club, question Tixi etc.
We are shopping at Harrods these days, the majority of players we are looking at are being chased by the top teams......theses deals are always going to be difficult to close...some people really do need to wise up !

I always used to think the thing what sets us apart from the rags & the reason we have class & they have none is that we don't have that arrogant sense of entitlement & feeling of divine right that those arrogant tossers have. When Alan Shearer used to play at Old Trafford he used to get booed & have abuse hurled at him because he had the audacity to turn down the SCUM twice. I used to think us blues would never be that sad or pathetic. I am rapidly beginning to change my mind.

After what happened to the Laporte deal.....I'm trying to not let myself get too excited about those reports just in case!;)

There's many a slip between cup and lip. The only time I believe a deal is done, is when the player is on the Official site holding a shirt up and doing an interview.

I believe Pep will either continue his pursuit for the lad and we end up paying an extra 15 to 20 million euro's for him, or we bin our interest and move onto another player.

In Pep I trust.

Some of the posts in this thread are embarrassing. Basically theres been a choice of 2 decisions; 1. We didn't want to pay the transfer fee or 2. The player didn't feel we were the right destination.

He hasn't ruined his career, he signed a new contract which will probably increase his wages and means him staying in a comfortable environment whilst he gets over his injury. He's also only 22, if he's waiting for Barcelona or Real then i'm sure he will get that chance if he keeps up his form until his new deal comes close to ending (he'll only be 25/26 years old), there's not much more we can do. He was never our player, i'm sure the club done their best or made the right decision. Lets just trust the club have an alternative option in mind or a different solution, we have a great manager, lets just trust he knows what he's doing.

Well I slightly disagree, Bilbao are tough negotiators. I doubt Barca or Madrid would pay anywhere near his new release clause. One thing being loyal and another being naive. Waiting until you are 26/27 playing for a club that's mid table may harm his development - certain players are ready for that step up earlier. I hope for his sake it works out.

He'll regret this decision. No team is going to pay his new release clause and Bilbao don't negotiate so unless he runs down his contract he's stuck there forever.

If he wants to stay, good luck to him. A stance most of us would have found quite admirable not all that long ago.

I trust Pep also mate.....its Txiki I dont have as much confidence in and sadly, he's the one that does the deals....fingers crossed Txiki proves me wrong this summer!;) cheers!

Just one of those things... We have to accept and respect his decision. If he's not up for it its best he stays where he is. We will have a blan b and a plan c no doubt. People slagging Txiki is just wrong he has more reason than anyone to be disappointed I bet he's flown miles and spent hours working on this to be let down at the last minute. I'm sure MCFC will survive this minor set back.

Laporte has fucked up on this one,not Txiki...IMO.

Hi mate....it was first reported in Feb that we had agreed personal terms with Laporte but we waited until this week to give him a deadline to pay release clause?....I dont know all the talks between us and Laporte during that time but we must have felt we were doing right by giving him time and stepping back during the injury, while all the time his current club have been working on an improved deal.....I feel since the time we agreed terms with the player, we've allowed his club to jump ahead of us.....just opinion but I feel this is where we failed in this negotiation...like I say, I really want Txiki to prove me wrong this summer....

Matt Le Tissier: "To play in the best clubs is a nice challenge, but there is a much more difficult challenge. Play against them and beat them. I dedicate myself to that".

Reading you guys made me understand that you don´t know anything about us or about proper football. Football is not the amount of trophys or the exchange of players from all over the world. Fuck that.

As Jon Uriarte said once: "Athletic Club, this is our Club. Everyone's and no one's. As singular in philosophy, as plural in followers . So respected as misunderstood. Some teams make history , Athletic becomes a legend . And that's because an undetermined day in an unwritten agreement , we decided to follow a peculiar way. We chose to be David when everyone wanted to be Goliath. That day we decided to be less victorious but to win more. And we understood that Athletic is a family matter. Football, believe me, has a secondary role."

Keep blaming Laporte about not signing for you. Maybe you should take a look at yourselves and ask the question again. Keep playing monopoly with the arab sheikh. And try to show some more respect.

And yes, the signing is OVER. We don't want or need the stupid money. All for you. Get over it.

By the way, how many mancunians in your squad?

Wasn't a dig mate,as some have said,if he wants to stay at Bilbao, good luck to him.
He's had the chance to come to "one of" the best clubs in Europe with huge ambitions, its a fuck up on his part IMO.

Hi mate....dont worry, I know you werent having a dig!;) Was just trying to explain how I felt we let Bilbao back into the race......cheers!

He was at Bilbao, they were always by definition in the race. If a player decides not to leave his club I find it incredibly hard to hold Txixi responsible. He was surely offered plenty of money and the opportunity to play for the best manager on the planet. If he wants to stay in Bilbao I can applaud him for his loyalty and won't spend much time worrying about what City could or should have done differently. He was at that club, we can't simply erase his memory.
