Aymeric Laporte

Absolute warrior, and along with Fernandinho got us over the line in 2022 when we ran out of defenders. I’m ok with the fee, if you give such great service, don’t make a fuss when you are gradually replaced, then we should help facilitate a good move in return.

I feel a bit sorry for him, he got injured at crucial times whilst others in his position rose to the challenge, I can see why we are cashing in, but wish him all the best, he contributed a lot to our recent success. The fee might suggest there was a little animosity, but that is just speculation, I suspect City are trying to load the coffers in time to buy someone to bolster the attacking midfield in the absence of Kev. Shame we can’t get money for Cancelo this summer, would have preferred a good sum for him and keep Aymeric

Like a lot off players going to Saudi Arabia. He will probably leave early like Jota (Ex Celtic player) has done already.

Laporte if he needed to move on should be looking at maybe returning to Spain or go to France, Germany and Italy.

Mahrez made it look too easy the other when he scored for his new club.

It's bloody good money for Aymeric, but can't help feeling this is a terrible waste of a genuinely class central defender. He's 29, got easily three or four top years in him, playing where he plays, and with his ability to read the game.
Watched one of the games in the Saudi league the other night (because it's already on television). It looked like what it was — a place for people at the fag end of their career to showboat, while picking up a monumental cheque. What the MLS used to be, and still is to an extent. Except the pay-off isn't quite so astounding. And I don't know, maybe the night life's a bit livelier in Miami than in Riyadh.
