B of the bang

It should have been called R of the rust. On the sane site now there is a small display /tribute to the old coal mine and its miners that used to be on the site.

Sure there used to be a thread about it, but I can't seem to find it, apologies mods, merge if necessary.
Anyone know what happened to it after it was dismantled?
I believe it was put into storage somewhere as it was deemed dangerous.
I miss it, I thought it was a great piece of modern sculpture, and part of our history, not in a football way, but I kind of looked at it as a symbol related to our move to eastlands.
I'd love to see it again, even in bits.

Last I heard it was in “storage” somewhere. Wouldn’t surprise me if the council sold it for scrap tbh.

I loved it. It was a striking piece of public art that sadly and unsurprisingly was installed on the cheap.

It was shit. It highlighted how easy it is to con money out of the National Lottery.
As soon as it was installed it started falling to bits.

Less of the ignorance please.

As someone who has spent years working on lottery funded music and art projects, no, it’s not “easy to con” money out of them at all. It’s hard work and they don’t dish out funding willy-nilly.

It is however easy for contractors to fuck up the installation when asked to do it on the cheap, which is what happened with this work. It’s a disgrace what happened to it.

Transported some of it to eastlands from adamsons ind est , Hyde

Think it’s moved and called ‘The A of the Ang’ now.

Seriously, I really liked it and thought it went well with the new stadium and new project, no reason that couldn’t have been a viable monument in this day and age with quality workmanship.

Fair do's. I hold my hands up, not the lotterys fault. I just expected 2 million quid would get you a bit more than a load of traffic cones painted silver and glued together.........

(Shit, I'm in for in now :-) )

Same, I thought it was great at the time, balls-out bold, challenging, took commitment to pull off. Had to have seen it to appreciate it imo.

Can't really tell if more was made of the safety story than really the case, but if it was set out as a temporary piece it would have been a success.

I liked it and thought it was quite spectacular with the setting sun behind

I believe the Ukrainians are placing it in cannons and firing it at retreating Russians
The sun, the sun. Its in Bradford ffs. If you had said it looked great with the rain drops falling off the spikes......
as they lay on the ground.....
I would have agreed with you.
