OK,

I don't think even the most ardent City fan could argue that Sir Alex is the greatest manager the game has ever seen, I don't think his tally of trophies will ever be equalled, by anybody, remember he was successful at Aberdeen as well, and most of his former players have respected him, even if they have been on the wrong side of the famous hairdryer..... Also, you have got to admire his work ethic.

So, to get to the point.

I think, where he falls down big style is in post match interviews, if United have been soundly beaten, it does not matter who by, he hardly EVER gives the opposing team the credit, it's always "We were unlucky"," The ref was terrible", We wore the wrong colour kit" etc, etc.

Anyone else thought this?

Numerous times over the past few times, he's been quite gratious in defeat/draw.

He is a twat though.

This my friend is why he´ll always be hated regardless of how much he wins and managers like Sir Bobby and Paisley will be remembered with fondness and as true gentlemen of the game - love over gold say I

The thing I can't stand about him - well one of the things - is the way he bans anyone who says something about him or his team that he doesn't like - at this rate there will be nobody left at his pre/post match interviews!

As a manager, his record can't be argued with. He knows how to win - games and trophies.

As a man, in the public domain at least, he has no class, no dignity and no integrity.

The thing is, have you ever heard, SAF, Wenger, Benitez ever give anyone credit. They are all bad losers and thats because they so good at winning and being top dog and such like.

Great manager ? I can and do argue with that !

The guy has spent top dollar since he joined United and has been instrumental in inflating transfer fees to the level we see today. He has always been able to outbid everyone else (until now) and his tenure has coincided with the emergence of the money spinning European league. In effect, unlike the great Liverpool managers and Cloughie he has achieved his success at a time when there has been at best two teams and at worst only one other team competing. It has been the equivalent of winning the Scottish League.

What's more, the fact that he has won so few European Cups during that time is shocking. At least that has now been reduced to a two team league too so he should puick up a few more now !

This all day long!

Great manager and supposedly a top bloke, was in my uncles local looking at a matchstick model of old trafford and he said he was like on of the lads (twat). He stood with them for half hour with ahalf a pint of bitter just chatting. I sound like a real rag, I understand!

Agree with every word here.

He's also been one of the luckiest. He was in charge for what, 5 or 6 years before they won anything? And he'd already spent an incredible amount (for 23 years ago, anyway). There's absolutely no way that could happen today.
And nobody can deny that they've benefited from some extremely dodgy refereeing decisions over the years - far far more than any other side.

Nope. I definitely would not say he's a great manager. He's a good motivator, I'll give him that. But given the time and the money he's had, what he's won in the 23/34 years he's been there, you'd expect nothing less.

Don't get me started on luckiest !

Bob Paisley-9yrs 3 Euro cups
Brian Clough-19yrs 2 Euro cups.
purple nose-25+yrs 2 Euro cups.
The 1st 2 both actually had to win the English league before they could enter the Euro cup, purple nose did it once.
You are judged as a club manager by your success in the biggest & best competition, the 1st 2 are better managers.

Absolutely. Both Paisley and Cloughie would have run rings around that despicable old bastard.
Also, don't forget that when both Paisley and Clough were successful you could only have 3 foreign players in your team. 8 of the side had to be English. And when that was the rule the rags flopped miserably in Europe. It was only when the rules were changed that they started getting a look-in.
Baconface also had a far superior bank balance with which to pick the best players in the world for his club. Something else that neither Paisley or Clough had.

him and his pals at sky have manipulated and bullied there way to sucsess i personally would love to see the back of them both? ferguson will one day get someone really hurt at a football match with his accusations and verbal attacks on the opposition, a knight of the realm should not act in the manner of a bar room shit stirrer? i will never in my lifetime give him any praise whatsoever the guy is a cheat bully and intimidator with a group of arse licking none entity managers backing him all the way?

Did you know Alex Ferguson scored an hat trick in the old firm derby.
Also in the 70s an 80s, if you won the English league you was bound to win in Europe, Just look at the winners at that time, I'll post them if you want.

Also don't forget, when SAF took over at United you had to win the league before you can waltz into it Champions league like these days, oh I almost forgot the home player restrictions SAF had on him in the early years, 6 or 7 players had to be English, the press was relentlessly hounding Him, you battered us 5-1. So Alex is an United fan first and foremost, you're hatred for him has forgot these little problems the he had, but go on, he's a shit manager.

Check out his honours list:
