Ball winner at the back needed?

Difficult decision, as we don't often face the problem of being pummeled in the air each week. Certainly need to either stop the crosses or at least make sure we have the personnel organised to deal with the eventuality. Having a settled back four would also help. When we played the Wolves on October 30th, neither of today's full-backs started.

my only concern with samba is that he'd rather go somewhere where he's assured of starting than a high pressure situation like us. he'd only really be playing against longball, physical teams as kolo's immense tackling and pace works better against sides like arsenal. I just don't know if he'd be willing to accept a smaller role at a club that's going places... plus he'd have to relinquish his free-chicken-for-life card, which for me would make it a much harder decision :P

hmmm...

I'm not sure. I think there is a clear communication issue between Kolo and Hart, I also think there's a lack of confidence there which I think stems from the communication issue.

For me we need a tall CB to go with Vinnie, and I won't be dissappointed if we swapped Kolo and Joleon for 2 new centre backs in the next 18 months.

Kolo couldn't deal with Stephen Fletcher today, he looked all over the place, it was hopeless.

Kolo did really well at the start of the season, so I hope it's just a blip, but for me it is down to him why the defence has started to become weak, Kompany is rock solid imo, he just needs a partner of the same quality.

Our defending in the air was shocking today and from corners it is free header after free header, something needs to be done urgently.

No reason why he could'nt be our first choice every game, no need to be a bit-part player at all, he won't get a better chance of the big time so would put in the extras week in week out, i personally like Boyata but Samba is a fkin meathead and can play a bit.

The thing that really pisses me off is that Bamba last week and Zubar this week absolutely dominated us from set play after set play, i mean it was'nt fkin rocket science and the whole world and his dog could see what was happening bit it STILL happened, totally battered from the same guy ffs, today was the same, we were dominated when it was clear what was going on, we need someone asap imo.

I guess that's true. kolo has really impressed me against smaller sides though, i think it might be a little unfair to him to drop him to second string. that said, it is infuriating watching doyle and fletcher dominate aerially against us every time we play against them. maybe that's the difference between being able to put lower level teams to bed, just the demoralization of beating them at their own game with someone like samba.

wasn't samba at fault for chelsea's 2nd today, he hasn't been in very good form recently.

Unsure mate as i only just got back from the game, but i know he's head is elsewhere and i personally hope it's to us. All these so called marquee and money signings aint the answer, get a bit of solidity and bollocks at the back and you just never know.
