Ballon d'Or 2024...c'mon Rodders!

BBC unsurprisingly giving it to Vini Jnr although it's not supposed to be about this season.

According to Wikipedia:
For the third time in the history of the award, it will be given based on the results of the season instead of the calendar year. This is the period from 1 August 2023 to 31 July 2024.

Anyone know about how the vote takes place? I assume it's done in advance of the ceremony. Or if Vini gets another hat trick this weekend is Rodders fcked?
If it’s based on the dates you’ve given, whatever he does this weekend should be irrelevant!

Rodri has been head and shoulders above everyone. The shite media know it. Opposition fans don't because they worship the shite media about City.

He hasn't got PL player of the season, won't get the B'dor, didn't even get in the PL team of the season..... because he plays for City. We all know it. The players know it, the club know it, client reporters like Stone and Winter know it, and it stinks. Stinks of childish jealousy and petty revenge.

If he played for utd or arsenal he'd be at the levels of Modric etc.

This is one of those trophies that one hopes a City player could, and in this case should, win, but we all understand Pep, Mansour, and Khaldoon are never going to try to manipulate a campaign to get our player the trophy.

Haaland was head and shoulders the best player in the world in his first City season, culminating in the CL victory….and didn’t win!

Rodri was instrumental in that season, scoring the winning goal in the CL Final and then leading City to another title and Captaining Spain to the Euros Final and winning Player of the Tournament. In short, for a year he barely lost a game and was instrumental in almost every victory and trophy…AND HE PROBABLY WON’T WIN!

Apparently, Real Madrid is the only big team left in Europe, and their petulant forward who consistently complained about racism, but scored a few goals, is being put on the pedestal, with Nike even making him Golden Boots to celebrate!!

Can only one even imagine Rodri wearing golden boots???!!!

Most of the personal awards in ANY industry are a political game, and City don’t play in that space!

Laughable, isn’t it?

Not only does it undermine the awards, but emphasizes the small-mindedness that goes into such things!

Rodri himself sees it and understands where such trophies go, but must also realize that if he’d played for RM, and had the same win percentage and trophies won, he’d have been the winner by acclimation without even needing the vote!

Vinicius is a wonderful player and the way he has spoken about the racism is to be commended. That press interview where he broke down crying was heartbreaking.

But when you look at his statistics as an attacking player they're not particularly impressive. Yes he scored in the CL final, but Rodri has done that albeit in a different season and also added international success to his accolades along with a ridiculous unbeaten record which showed his importance to us.

It should be Rodri's but the Real PR machine and general sway towards more attacking players will mean it goes to Vinicius.

Would love Rodri to win but the winner always mostly seems to be playing in the Spanish League.
It lost all respect when Messi was nominated, let alone winning it over Haaland last season whilst playing in a retirement league and also in 2021 playing part time for PSG, winning ahead of Lewandowski
