Balotelli (continued)

ESPN saying Villa went off with Thigh problem but it looked like he was holding his hamstring to me. If it isn't bad then i would be happy with a loan till the end of the season

I'm pretty sure Barca ruled out a loan move for him when he was linked with Arsenal. Maybe they want a sale or nothing?

If Villa does arrive as a short term he better arrive with a funky haircut otherwise the groupies on here will need their shoelaces confiscating.....

No way is Villa moving in this window IMO. I suspect if we really are going to let Mario go then it's down to everyone acknowledging he's had pretty much zero footballing input this season. You can't miss what you don't have so to speak, and with us being out of the CL and not playing in the Europa either, we don't need to carry four strikers.

I agree,especially given Guidetti's imminent return/arrival.

4(alleged)world class strikers was always an optimistic, and unnecesary venture anyway.

2 first choice and two hardworking, efficient, happy to be reserves is more than adequate.

you seem pretty confident that we want him gone Tolmie, not saying it'll happen cause nothing is guaranteed.

Very true. In terms of my own confidence, yesterday was the first time both camps appear to be nearing the same page.

I genuinely don't think Mancini wants him gone entirely, but a number of factors are now seemingly in play.

Mario's own wishes, the duration left on his contract, what Mancini might be able to get out of it.

Should it rush through, it will be because they all consider it for the best.

You has better inform City then, because it's them leaking the Mario stuff today.

Well call me "Old Fashioned" but I prefer to wait and see, what happens during this window than be taken in by the Serious Rumour Squad. Mancini has made it public that no one is leaving in this window.

That's fine, but football is never that black and white.

The reports out there today from all the Manchester number ones, are two-fold.

Mancini and City can't come out and publicly say Mario or anybody else is for sale. One, it hands the initiative to any buyer in terms of price.

Secondly, we would have to hand him a pay-off for showing him the door. Both camps are staying tight-lipped for good reason.

A game of bluff. City know Mario wants out, but doesn't want to come out and say it.

Mario knows City want him out, but we can't come out and say it. Leaking it means other clubs are in the loop and the Milan clubs can start to get their shit together.

Not buying that for one minute. If City had "leaked it" then its obvious to any would be buyer that we want to sell, his agent would make sure of that. Also the same goes for mario when the press are printing comments like this:-

"But Mario has asked me to be quiet because he appreciates that he is loved by the Manchester City president"

If Mario goes in this window then i will hold up my hands and say you were right, but until i see it for myself he is staying!

Guidetti's return is not imminent. It is months away, and Aguero is out for likely six weeks. Get rid of Balo without a replacement and we will have two strikers, on top of no Yaya, Kolo and Razak.

I suspect the theory was that Mario would provide another option as a left sided attacker as well as being an option up front. Hasn't really worked out that way as it became pretty obvious pretty soon after he arrived that the only way to get the best out of him was to play him up top.

Really am intrigued to see how Txiki shapes the playing staff in the next 18 months.

elsewhere on this board it's been suggested that aguero will miss arsenal and be back for the nest match.

Sounds like Aguero will be back sooner than some think - Brennan said this on Twitter yesterday "Aguero close but won't be risked at Arsenal. Maicon now back in training". When challenged he said it'd come directly from Mancini. Good news if true - and anyway you would think if City are actively trying to move Mario out this Jan then they think it's the best thing for the club.

Hamstring injuries are usually a bit more serious than that but fantastic if true. We need everyone available if we're to make it through no-Yaya month with a shot at the title.

-- Fri Jan 11, 2013 10:59 am --

I've seen City shoot themselves in the foot too many times.
