Apologies if posted elsewhere.

Mario Balotelli chose to move to City because he wants to be the best in the business.

The Blues striker reckons his self-expectations are more demanding than any placed on him from outside the club.

But he accepts that there is still much to learn about City and the Barclays Premier League before he reaches his peak.

Balotelli, signed from Inter in the summer, made his first Premier League start at Wolves on Saturday a game he ended frustrated and with a booking to his name.

“It was difficult for me on Saturday because it was my first full game after all the injuries,” he reflected before heading to Poland for the Europa League game with Poznan.

Now I have to get as many matches under my belt as possible so I can understand the way the game is played here because it is very different from Italy

...Mario Balotelli...

“The tackles are harder and the referees don’t seem to blow very often for fouls – in Italy, when someone makes contact with you, it’s a foul, but that’s not the case in England.

“It was my first game and it wasn’t easy for me because I need to get to know my teammates on the pitch and understand their movement and that comes with time.”

Despite all that, the 20-year-old Italy international has no doubt where he wants his career path to take him whilst at City.

“I want to be the best player in the world,” he smiled. “It is good to have ambition. I’ve said in the past that I don’t care what other people want or expect of me because I know what I want.

“I will always give everything because I want to become the best. That is my aim and I am determined to make it happen.

“I am here at City to play Champions League football, that’s the competition I want to be in and that is what all the players here want to play in.”

For now though it is Europa League that is occupying is immediate thoughts.

“It is important we progress to the next stage,” he stressed. “We are going to Poznan to win – but that is normal. We want to win every game we play. The quicker we guarantee a place in the round of 32 the better.”

Thought some of the comments the other day were absolutely disgraceful concerning this kid. His performance smacked of David Silva at Spurs, getting caught on the ball, not looking up to the pace et al. I (and many others) could see that he was struggling out there, and it should of been upto Roberto to take him off as opposed to Adebayor. Personally, after what happened with Silva, I wouldnt have even thrown Balo in a must win game like this so soon after returning from a lengthy lay-off, when hes got an inform England international winger sat on the bench twiddling his thumbs, but what do I know.

Anyway, nice to see hes come with a lot of ambition for himself and the club

This forum is going to properly kick-off over Balotelli. He will divide the fans, unless his performances reach absolute World-class levels very quickly.

Are you referring to expectation, or simply because of his attitude (on and off the pitch)? Probably a hybrid of both I guess.

at Inter balo was the most loved by the fans , largely.

then mourinho started his personal work of demolition of balotelli's image and fans were confused and divided.

i think at City balo will quickly be the fans most preferite player.

Balo will be fine....he may not have the work rate of Tevez, but he has so much fucking ability, once he's got a few games under his belt he will terrorize this league...

Judging by some of the ridiculous criticism of him I heard at Molineux some of our knee-jerk supporters have already made their minds up!

Well we had another chap here who wanted to be 'the best player in the world ' , and he basically made a right c#nt of himself for the main part ...... and now we have Balotelli , a young man not short on confidence , or agression , coming out with a similar thing.

Well Mario we need to see a whole lot more than we witnessed from you on Saturday , that's for sure ........ you wouldn't have got into a Sunday pub side on that performance , yet Mancini leaves you on for the entire ninety minutes!

So less talk , and more action Mario ....... great players have the ability to change , and win , games ......... if you truly want to be 'great' , it's the only way to go!

at Molineux there had been a mistake from someone.

the penalty should be left to mario for score .

maybe this would change his whole game. and certainly the perception of his performance.

Mario didn't NEED to score at Molyneux to have changed a few opinions of him .......

all he had to do was match the performance level that was put in by David Silva , and his debut would have been seen as being very promising ........ he let himself down by his constant bickering with the referee and Wolves players , and his overall aggressiveness .... he'll know that more than anyone ....... all we ask for a decent days work from a player who's highly rated in the european game , and we definetely didn't get one from him on Saturday ..... we needed far more positive football from him than we got!

Instead he was completely upstaged by a little known player who Wolves got for 'peanuts' , Matt Jarvis ......

Not that Balotelli was alone with a bad performance on that day by any means!

Silva is fit, and has been playing in all of our big games this season. He is currently our best player.

Balotelli isn't fit. He just came back from injury. Wolves was his debut.

How do you expect him to match Silva's performance? Balotelli didn't have a bad game. Considering the circumstances, it could have been a lot worse. Change his name to an English Adam Johnson, and the performance would have been hailed as something sent from the heavens.
