The abuse Balotelli gets on here is beyond pathetic, no one can even pretend to have an informed opinion about how he is going to perform in the prem for at least a couple of months, but of course its much more fun to destoy our players rather than support them.

Totally agree mate!

Its pathetic. Especially Black Moomba or whatever who 'travelled 70 miles' to watch the game and almost expected Balo to entertain him on his debut.

FFS get a grip. He's 20 yrs old, not played any competitive football in god knows how long, on his debut, never played in an English game. Seriously? What do people expect of him? You need to give the guy a chance, it's only been 1 game?
At last a sensible supporter.

This forum is going to properly kick-off over Balotelli. He will divide the fans, unless his performances reach absolute World-class levels very quickly.

Balo will be fine....he may not have the work rate of Tevez, but he has so much fucking ability, once he's got a few games under his belt he will terrorize this league...

I really hope so, but people have a pre-conception of him, if he has a bad patch of form, or takes time to settle, knives will be out quickly.

Also the fact that he'll be playing in the same team as Tevez won't help from that point of view, they'll get compared.

Well we had another chap here who wanted to be 'the best player in the world ' , and he basically made a right c#nt of himself for the main part ...... and now we have Balotelli , a young man not short on confidence , or agression , coming out with a similar thing.

Well Mario we need to see a whole lot more than we witnessed from you on Saturday , that's for sure ........ you wouldn't have got into a Sunday pub side on that performance , yet Mancini leaves you on for the entire ninety minutes!

So less talk , and more action Mario ....... great players have the ability to change , and win , games ......... if you truly want to be 'great' , it's the only way to go!

I understand where your coming from BM and having read the board without posting for a few years now, and i do have respect for your postings-i live in nottm and recall on more than one occasion your great accounts of the forest/city match in 1974 where it kicked off to fook-you clearly have watched city for a long time...BUT..
I do feel you are being a little harsh in your assesment of Balo,s league debut.
top class players like Bergkamp took a whole season to adjust to this league after being used to Italian football, yet he went on to become arguably, one of the best players, ever, in english football. We as city fans should be looking to suppout this guy as much as possible-let the media be the ones who are quick to to dismiss our signings..we need to get behind the lad and let him know
we are willing him to succeed.
I must say, having been at the match i was disappointed ,horrified even,to see balo engage in face to face confrontations with wolves players -completly uncalled for-you are right in that regard and he needs to cut that out..but as another poster has said,if the rest of the team who have been playing regular football all season, with the benefit of a full pre-season were off form on sat,its a bit much to expect a guy with 25 mins 1st team football this season to transform things on the pitch single-handedly!

Good post 'dennishasdoneit' ......

and there are some on here who are clearly not reading posts correctly , or understanding them .......

nobody is having a 'lasting' go at Balotelli , we all want him to succeed , and we all , of course , realise that it won't happen in two minutes ....... but this is Mancinis livelyhood , and he's depending on a very talented player (amongst others) who's presumably telling him that he's fully fit to perform ... we cannot carry 'passengers' , points are too important , either Balotellis fit or he isn't ....... if he isn't then maybe he should be gaining valuable match (and fitness) practice in the reserves.

He was far from alone in an abject display at Wolves ..... but we are relying on the likes of him and Adebayor to pull us through in Tevez's abscence .... and more importantly to prove that we're no one man show.

He was poor at Wolves , but so was Milner ..... so was Barry .... and so were the central defenders .... in fact probably only a couple of players put in a decent shift at all ....... he was far from being the ONLY one , everybody knows that!!!!

Nobody is 'singling' him out for particular attention from that game , as so many others in that game were just as poor , if not worse ..... but this is a Balotelli thread , and that's why he's been mentioned .

Balotelli willl get more starts from now on , i'm sure of that , and his overall fitness will improve ...... but he knows he has to 'up the ante' on that display , he knows it and we do too!

I take your point about Bergkamps slow start at Arsenal ...... but in his first season there he still had a goal every three games ratio .......

nobody will have been more disappointed with Saturdays performance or result than Balotelli himself ...... we all know that ...... but only he and his teamates can make sure that we don''t suffer too many afternoons like that from here on ... Mancini can only do so much.

Trouble is BM, Roberto doesn,t do the "in the reserves to get fit" bit. the italian football culture does not recognize this idea-italian football doesn,t even bother with reserve teams.at all.balo needs game time and there may be an argument which says such game time should be in the firing line of the 1st team so he can experience the pace of the game.bergkamp didnt play in the reserves when he intially struggled-in present day football, the likes of Torres and Drogba, following injury are straight back into the 1st team without any reserve team football. i doubt very much that carlos will be banished to the reserves when he returns from Argentina..and when you think about it,playing with the likes of Etuhu and Jo are hardly going to prepare a top-class player for the rigours of the english premier league-neither of these players have shown ,consistently that they can handle it!

Yeah , i can see what you're saying , and to be fair i agree with you .......

managers , these days , DO appear to be under pressure to throw big names straight into the team .. even from substantial injury.

but it seems to me that , from what i saw on Saturday , Mancini is coming under greater pressure by the week right now , and make no mistake he was absolutely livid on Saturday DURING the game , and after it ... did you see him going beserk on the touchline?

At the end of the day his future is gonna be based on results , and maybe sooner rather than later , and if he doesn't get them the pressure from all sides will only grow ..... and quite how much time he's got to give the likes of Balotelli the chance to improve his fitness levels and impact is another question ....... maybe he wants his cake and eat it ........ he stands or falls by the decisions he makes.

And at Spurs during Silva's debut I heard "too lightweight.." " can't hack the pace of the Prem..." etc from City fans - now look at him. Why judge any new player on one performance, especially as the guy has hardly played any competitive football in 6 or 7 months.

Nobodys saying that Balotelli doesn't have the talent to turn things around over time ....... but you know , i know , Mancini knows , and the player himself knows that he didn't do himself justice at Wolves ....... his energies were channelled in the wrong direction

try saying any different to the 2,500 city fans who paid , and travelled , 70 miles to watch him!

Turn what around?

Seriously, what are you talking about??

Well i don't mean turn his car around , do i ?

Maybe turn around a poor performance might come into it , eh ....... together with about half a dozen others!

Anyway i'm movin' on from this now to other topics ....... the board doesn't stop growing you know!

Regarding playing first teamers in the ressies - I've watched the reserves quite a bit over the last few years and tbh when first teamers returning from injury are played they'd expend more energy walking around the Trafford Centre, it's a complete waste of time IMO.

Lol, I bet he looked livelier than he does on the pitch as well!
