balotelli or negredo?

Gosh. There is really something about Balo that brings the worst in fans. Even when the guy is gone, had nothing but good things to say about the club since he was sold, you guys still have to bring him down.

Let it go, OP. Your hate is misplaced. Just enjoy our current strikers or are you gonna start with Tevez too?

Shut up with your nonsense.

It's a very broad question. Balotelli could hit a level Negredo just doesn't have in him. Negredo is five years older and arguably at his peak. Potential goes to Balotelli, the present goes to Negredo. However, the more pertinent question who is better for our team? Negredo is by some distance. He adds to us in a lot ways; skillful; strong; good in the air; and crucially is on Aguero's wavelength which Balotelli rarely was.

As an aside, we should look back on Balotelli fondly. He was a big part of our two trophy winning seasons and was often crucial at critical moments. He will also live in the memories and the imagery of those seasons whether you like it or not, so you might as well enjoy it, and love him as he loves us.

I think you have it just abt spot on with that post
Was never a big fan of his tbh but without his flick on for that goal
We would never of had that moment.

I've never seen a more skillful player on the training ground than Balotelli. Incredible, truly world-class, talent. But he can't get out of his own way far too often to count on him. When he gets onto the stage of a live game, he is erratic. Very hard to build a team around him from a personality and even performance perspective. Negredo is a footballer first, and a pro. Nothing but positives for the team. I loved Balotelli when he was with us and hoped Mancini could turn him into our Eric Cantona. Swapping Balotelli for Negredo is a great move though. We are much stronger because of it.

So you saw a lot of him on the training ground did you? The word I heard was that he was a lazy git who occasionally performed in training but not often. He seems to still have a reputation for doing spectacular things but they are very few and far between.Maybe the reason that they even happened at all is that he kept on trying spectacular things and every so often one might come off so that some would say wow look at how brilliant that is!

The best footballers don't just try the spectacular so they can occasionally look good but play clever football for their team.

Yeah, but he didn't half used to wind the rags up

Ah Mario. I still miss Mario. For that wink at Ferdinand, the t-shirt and his part in the 6-1, that penalty against Spurs, his only two assists which won us the FA Cup and the PL. The antics which made you laugh or cry or both. I have nothing but love for the guy.

Big fan of Negrado though. Commitment, work ethic, bangs in goals whats not to like. Alvaro is the girl you marry. Mario is the ultimate one night stand. Which means I don't have to choose as I can enjoy both for entirely different reasons.

He did have his moments Balotelli .

Re: balotelli or negredo ?

Main difference is one is a team player and mature and the other can be a match winner on his day,in the right mood.

Is that you Mario?

Balotelli has the potential to be one of the best, but he'll never fulfil it because of his attitude. Might one day catch up with Alvaro in his prime, but wouldn't suit our style like The Beast does.

Still miss his antics though.

Probably, and Christ there's competition, one of the more obvious/silly threads on Bluemoon. Would anyone, even Balotelli fans, say that he would fit in better with our side than Negredo does?

I loved Mario, but there is no question that Manchester City is a much better team with the Beast in the side than it ever was with Balo.

I am also a big fan of Alfie.

It's a non-issue mate. Negredo any day.

Spot on. For all Mario's natural ability there is little application. Negredo doesn't have the same natural ability, I don't mean that in a patronising way, but just that he has had to work to get where he is, with spells at Almeria and Sevilla winning him a place at a big club, after never really getting a chance at Real. AN is much more effective though, and plays with a smile on his face than an attitude. Mario had his chance and I wish him well, if he didn't leave when he did, it would only have been a matter of time seen as the board were made up on ending Mancini's tenure.

I hear this quite often, but isn't that like saying "he could be the best, but won't because of his poor stamina.", or "because of his shitty positioning"?

I never for one second thought Balotelli was world-class material, I still don't. It could happen yes, as it could for many U23 y/o players, but in my book that's highly unlikely.

Oh, and to answer the original question, - Negredo.

Mario is like a cross between Rodney Marsh & Ilie Nastase, whereas our current number 9 is more a Bergkamp/Borg combination; both players intoxicatingly good but clearly we're on more solid ground in all respects today.

As much as I admired Mario & enjoyed his flourishes, I'm happy to say Alvaro is our future. He has such a fantastic touch & subtlety to his game it's hard not to see any other strike pairing with Aguero as inferior - and he works his socks off 110%.

I was one of Mario's biggest fans, so many memories in such a short space of time. The guy oozes in character, mystery and skill. On his day he was up there with the very best, but those days were to far and few between. Negrado has shown more passion and commitment in 3 months than Balotelli did during his city career. If Mario put his head to it, he has the skill to be one of the best strikers in the world, but I think we all know that probably won't happen
