hasn't he put them all to the keeper's left?
I think so, I told Jacqui exactly where he would put the ball as soon as the whistle went for the foul an I said he'd put the keeper the wrong way. She thought I was very clever.

Surely a keeper will do their homework soon though.
look up a couple of posts.
And.... He's put them all to the keepers left for us has he not?

i think he has

the video above is from his milano days

He's done the same every pen I've seen. time to change it up before he gets found out. Which he probably has already.

It won't help them. It is game theory pure and simple, whether he is aware of it or not. He makes them either make a decision or not. Whichever way they go he puts it in the opposite side. If they don't make a decision as he is striking the ball he merely makes one for them and powers it in to one side (they have no chance at that point because human reaction time is slower than the shot from that distance).

I am not saying he will never miss a penalty but his technique means that it will be because he struck the ball badly, not because the keeper did well.

How can he get "found out"..? it baffles me why some folk don't understand his method.!

-- Thu Nov 03, 2011 10:52 pm --

Well put... I've said the same thing, but some just don't get it..!

The lad is utterly nerveless and he believes that in every game he is by far the best player on the park. A great mindset for a penalty taker, spot kicks are as much mental as physical.

Mario does look very composed when about to take a penalty.

As soon as it was given, I was 100% confident that it would be 2-0.

And IIRC, Anelka never missed a penalty for us.
