Balotelli - too many excuses, not enough end product

Regardless of the penalty, he was disgraceful tonight.

Attitude was shocking, the free-kick he gave away for their first goal was ridiculous.

Because he's annoyed and in a mood, he runs 30 yards and deliberately pushes the Lisbon player over and gives away a free-kick which resulted in a goal.

First to always moan about everyone else and their mistakes, but never ever acknowledges his own.

and to finish, could he be the best player in the world?

not a chance, he'll be lucky to ever make the top 5 never mind the best.
Because no player gives away free kicks...

Who gave away the free kick that led to the goal away at Sporting? I don't remember them getting slagged off.

But bad boy Mario Balotelli......

Was it Barry who gave it away? can't remember, ....anyway whoever gave away the free-kick was because it was a clumsy challenge, a genuine attempt to get the ball but failed.

Tonight : Balotelli - gave it away cause he was in a mood, not even bothered about the ball. Just cause he saw his arse.

that's the difference, the key here to describe the difference in the points above ...attitude.

Mourinho didn't want anything to do with him... but he could afford to do that, Inter didn't have any players short of confidence and so they went on to win everything. I'm not sure we can do the same, who do we look to if not him? Aguero is hardly setting the world alight right now and don't even get me started on Dzeko.

Doesn't help either when our defense is so reliant on Kompany... Savic just isn't ready and it's embarrassing that we continue to throw him onto the pitch despite already knowing this, he's becoming one of those players where an opposition looks down the teamsheet and hopes to see his name on it.

I'm not sure Mourinho could deal with him.

I don't think so.

Now. What I believe is that he was trying to put some muscle on the player who was trying to get in the box, and he went down very, very softly. I don't believe it was anything to do with attitude.

You don't track back 40 yards, sprinting hard, to intentionally give away a free kick in a dangerous position.

Each player has their own personality, and I can't change Mario's. This is the only thing I don't like to see. The fact that he spends so much time fighting with others hurts himself and his team. Might've had 2 yellows tonight for literally no reason.

Put some muscle on him? he literally nudged him so hard in the back! he didn't even need to touch him, the ball was at knee height and he didn't even have proper control of the ball.

Cause it didn't go his way 20 seconds before, he likes to let his anger out by doing silly things. tonight his petulance for that free-kick got the best of him again, note the word again, not the first time, won't be the last.

The Sporting player milked it. How do you get a nudge on the right side, but fall down straight forward? (that's what I remembered happening).

I'm sat in the south stand corner, and even i saw it from where i was stood.

It was a foul and he knocked him completely off the ball.

yeah they milked it and yeh they went down quicker than a £10 prostitute. But that was one of the not so many genuine free-kicks they got.

I thought he seemed up for it tonight. The kicking the ball into the stands, chasing back and giving a foul away, alright they're not the best things to do but at least he seemed arsed. In the first half he seemed the only one who wanted it.

he does my head in.

two sides to mario
the one who gets fouled, gets up straight away and carries on, tries his best.

and the one who goes on like he's in a mood, fouls people unnecessary, charges over too people when it has nothing to do with him, getting involved etcc

zzzzzzzzz

At the moment, Mario is a bit more haircut and attitude than finished product. But he has a rare talent and his daftness is worth living with for another year, because in time he will be a truly great player.

agreed

Yes but why should we go through the teething period before he fucks off back to italy. He does my head in. One minute I'm thinking he's turned the corner next he's doing something stupid that in the end probably cost us going through to the next round.
