Bands that sold out

Red Hot Chili Peppers - their early stuff up to BSSM was great but they’re unrecognisable now.
Aerosmith - sold out when they got sober although fair play they were skint and really needed to earn some money, but Jesus that Armageddon song sucked dicks!

Hats off though to Iron Maiden and Rush - 2 bands who refused to compromise their music but still sold by the shed loads.
Also the Levellers.

Down to taste this. I get what you say about George Martin and he made them a lot more 'produced', but I'd argue their early skiffle/R&R stuff was generally more 'pop' - not withstanding the obligatory ringo single of course. Possibly the only band besides the Smiths who's last album I enjoy - probably because they both split up before they went really shit. I often wonder what the next album after abbey rd would have been like, but if it would have been a mixture of Yoko era Lennon and Wings I'm glad it didn't happen.

3000 posts! - In your face @Blue Bruce . @karen7 I'm catching you up - last one to 100000 smells.

@Mazzarelli's Swiss Cheese It is perhaps a good job I am seeing this a tad late as I think you are just looking to bully Blue Bruce, it is not his fault he only has 11 posts (and only 2 of them were any good) If I had seen this yesterday I would have made sure the thread was pulled.

I was about to 'like' your post until I noticed your pathetic sub 15k post count. Consider yourself belittled.

Has to be Fleetwood mac as soon as they started to let their birds in the band. Although I prefer that version tbf

Wasn't Fleetwood Mac's change of direction away from the blues to a more "commercial" sound more to do with Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer leaving the band?
