Bar service at CoMS

Don't like the sound of the police whingeing about the bottle bars. If they close them it will be a colossal step backwards.

Health and safety on the railings? Why are they ok in other grounds then?

i can only assume these other grounds are owned by the clubs.... whereas ours isn't...

also, the beer backpacks are allowed at gigs at CoMS, but seems they have to cross many bridges for it to happen at football... the reason why... different licenses for football!

Do the council have their own health and safety rules? Do they not have to go by the same rules as other clubs?

The change of the licensing laws for 24hr etc. Stopped licensing from being a national standard implemented by Magistrates to one 'policed' by the local authority. Basically they can implement things as they please

The answer to that is yes i suppose... its their ground therefore their rules... a bit like your house, your rules... also, Council is government and we all know about the government's ways!

if City bought the ground I suppose they could do whatever they wanted, provided they weren't breaking any laws or H&S rules... plus, other grounds may have been 'built' differently therefore their grounds may meet health and safety standards more than ours!

Well that's shite. We try and make it better and they just say 'tough shit, our rules, health and safety blah blah blah'!? Can we not myther them over it or what?

Playing the health and safety card is bullshit when other grounds have proper queuing systems in

Add this to the list:

Last night - I got into th eground from the pub ten mins before the game (being a smoker and that) - went to the food stall. No pies. Asked how long the pies would take. Was told "Just over ten minutes"........

FFS - who in their right mind puts the pies in to be ready just after kick off????

Grrrrrrrrrr, had to have a horrible hot dog.

The system as per Schalke works really well but obviously the cost is prohibitive especially if at some time the entire system will be ripped out and replaced with super duper Dolphins type kit. Couldn't we look at some sort system to pre-purchase some kind of voucher.Maybe some thing like casino chips different colours for different products, blue for Fosters etc.
There would be no need for a extra till,no need for maths and for those who English isn't there first language no miscommunication. Surely this could be implemented quickly and would speed up service and get around the councils objections.

That would be a brilliant idea. It could be made even simpler though. Have like a money machine which you pay first, then it prints out a receipt. Then its just a simple case of taking the receipt to the bar staff who get whatever is on the receipt. Then the staff can just focus on getting what you want, and not having to mess about with money

The problem with pre-paying for things like this is when you get to the bar and they have ran out of a certain pie/pint, and you have to upgrade/downgrade accordingly. No doubt the staff would fail miserably in their interpretation of common sense in terms of replacement - "no, can't swap a Fosters/potatoe and meat pie credit for a Singha/steak pie" It also means queuing twice.

Easiest way would be to top up your accesscard/seasoncard with credit and then swipe that at the bar. If the ticket office can activate your card for certain games/turnstiles, then I see no reason why they can't do the same at stalls throughout the ground, either for food/drink or for souveneirs. Top up online or at the ticket office when buying your tickets as needed.

I went to an Ajax match a couple of seasons ago and queued up for a bottle water at half time (I was hugely dehydrated after a heavy night it being a Sunday 11am kick off!). When I got the front they told me I had to buy a swipecard to purchase anything at the bar so I had to queue for the swipecard and then queue again for the bar.

Minimum swipecard purchase was EUR 10.00... so I had to queue 3 times and paid EUR 10.00 for water, but hey ho the service was quicker tham at COMS and the water was on a par with the Fosters!

Conclusion - swipecards are the way forward.
