Barca away criteria announced

I don't know the figures at all, squirty,. Remember how many of our players and staff are Spanish or played there. I'd imagine that 3 or 400 will go to that lot, and I'd hazard a guess the same again to corporate. Maybe some to sponsors. This is guesswork of course but if you think we have 1900 corporate customers who would travel abroad I'd say you're miles out. We only have about that many corporate customers in total.
I'm not saying all 1900 have gone to corporate customers, and if they have then they have, but there does seem to be a hole in the allocation

Arsenal for £32 selling out on 9k also supports Squirties comments.

The best away ground and half the price.
I don't know if you went to Barca last year, but there was a perceptible group of fans who wouldn't relish Stoke away on a wet Monday night
It was on a Wednesday and was dry :)

Same Arsenal away there were quite a few with cameras mounted on sticks on our row which was the first day of sale, yet 9k sell out. Makes you wonder where half the Barca tickets went, as high points fans obviously sold on for Arsenal. So why such a difference?

I honestly don't know. But my guess is that when there's a high demand fixture there are extra demands from everywhere, if you know what I mean. It's a tough one for the club to balance.

They tried to balance it by not giving the Supporters Club an allocation last year, which was odd, I don't know if they've done the same this year

I'm not a points whore, i have just shy of 11000 points and have never bought a ticket that i haven't used myself until now. But on deciding i wasn't bothering with barca away this year as i went last year and funds are tight, a mate of mine who i usually see at most away games asked me for the tickets for one of his mates. I obliged and bought them for him. Is that wrong of me? Personally, i don't think so and that's coming from somebody who had pre-paid for travel to chelsea and missed out on a ticket that i usually wouldn't have a problem obtaining. I understand peoples frustration having been on the end of it myself but the points whoring problem is greatly exaggerated on here. It's no doubt done by a few on a regular basis but they would have to have bought tickets for undesirable fixtures in the past that they wouldn't be able to sell on in order to reach the points tally they're currently at in the first place.

Corporate, sponsors and other people are going to get a big chunk of tickets for this tie, more so than league games. It's not right in any way shape or form but this is the champions league, the competition that gives finalists around 15000 tickets each if they're lucky for a 90000 capacity final. It's something that happens everywhere throughout the competition, it's never going to change and there's very little the ordinary fan can do about it.

I got a ticket via my points for the game last year, but had a mate who missed out and ended up in the home end. In my block I was stood near a guy who was openly telling everyone he was a Spurs fan. No idea how he got a ticket. Also lots of, dare I say it, cockney accents around me.

They were outnumbered by the regulars, but noticeable all the same. You have to wonder where they get their tickets.

Demand is much higher than I thought.

I know a few guys who aren't going who just snapped up the tickets for the fun of it. Sold them on to pals with under 2,000 points.

The club needs to stop this. The gulf between those with high end points ie 10k and above and everyone else is just increasing because those fans are buying tickets just to accumulate points.

For european away games the club should do what they had to do with the Roma away tickets, "each ticket must be registered and used by the supporter who has purchased it" which has the names on the back which corresponds with the passport.

This could deter the point-whores

It's all well and good saying this but mates are always going to help mates out if they can. I can guarantee that there will be fans at every club in the country who will have ways and means of circumventing whatever policy their club has when it comes to applying for away tickets if a mate is after one but doesn't meet the qualifying criteria. It's not just a problem at City and let's be honest here, how many people could say hand on heart that they'd turn down the chance of getting a ticket for a key game on the principle that they don't technically qualify for one?

This is spot on.
People ask me all the time about tickets but they are not just randoms they all mates who have my phone number and are proper blues. If then their points kick in they give it me back.got to help your mates out surely.
