They should not have an individual TV deal anyway, it just ensures they get stronger and the gap between Barca, Real and the rest of the league gets wider!

that's exactly why they have one

and supported by uefa so the rich get richer; fair play? pah!

You can almost hear Platini & co redrafting the financial rules as we speak...

Real also have a large deal with Mediapro. Any form of collapse however won't happen.

Re: Barca in financial difficulty

So they need a short term loan in the close season to pay players wages, big wow, with the fan base that is not a large loan, and once the new season starts again, the ticket sales revenue + the money from the pella stalls etc starts rolling in again then they will be well enough covered, hardly in the same extend of borrowing as a club from just outside Manchester is it?

Re: Barca in financial difficulty

Its been a few weeks since I last looked at the FFP rules but this could cause a headache for Barca as far as 3 years hence.

They will have t show an operating profit form this point forward over a three year period.

Not knowing the full details of their financials means its all guesswork but in general lets assume they are going to earn less from TV as expected over 7 years?

A modest 10% shortfall means €100m apparently over 7 years, or about €14m per year over that period.

Then ad the new bank loan of €150m? over the same period and there are lots of reasons for them to be worried about FFP.

Its nothing compared to United's problems, their situation is a much different pie.

Re: Barca in financial difficulty

If this is true we could be entering a period of phenomenal opportunity for City. If all the Spanish clubs are financially screwed, with the possible exception of Real, Italian clubs aren't the market leaders they once were, German clubs can't compete financially, the dippers and rags are fucked, and Arsenal won't spend, then the door is well and truly wide open for City to come barging in and become a true European force.

Who'd have though it possible less than 2 years ago?!

Me.

I predicted every bit of it.

It seemed so obvious really.
