Barca v City Post Match Thread

We're not getting the results recently but we're not playing badly, we were bloody good against Everton they owed that point to their keeper and our wastefulness... Spurs are title contenders without question had a lot longer under their manager than our team has and it showed. We could do with some fullbacks but we should learn from Bony and not panic buy it just ends up being a huge waste when you get it wrong, the type of players we need are not going to be cheap unless we unearth a few gems but that doesn't happen often.

Also as others have said, never have we matched Barca tactically as we did for 60mins tonight... tonights 4-0 loss was better than the 1-0 loss that was down to Joe making countless saves to spare our blushes after being dominated for the whole game. Barca weren't at their best but part of that was down to us matching them better than they thought we would, they started making their own mistakes when we limited their options.

Shocking some of them but maybe we shouldn't be surprised as Pep himself has warned us they would come as they get used to playing his way and sticking rigidly to his game plans.

My mind hasn't changed from last year though and that's that this side desperately needs 2 world class full backs.

Yep, Pep's teams play out from the back even when under pressure - our fullbacks struggle to do this.

Pretty disappointing loss for me
It shows how far we have to go, but there wasn't anything I saw today that would make me doubt the direction we're going. A lot of mistakes today. A lot. Patience is difficult to muster with high hopes, but after seeing some of the posts today I worry for the pets of some of the posters on here. Take the loss and move on.Don't kick the dog

July 1st, I think. So; nearly 4 months. How long does it take to eliminate simple mistakes when you're working with players nearly every day?
Against the best front 3 in the world with 2 new players in the back 5, I'd expect a lot longer than 4 months. What do you think? 6 games and he's should have cracked it?

Sorry but we beat Sunderland, Swansea, Stoke, the bottom 3,West ham, Bournemouth, piss poor United team. We should have beaten Everton I agree. But the only class team we have faced Spurs were all over us. It was good to watch and sure as hell Pellegrini wouldn't have got 18 points on the spin.
Piss poor utd team? They are the favourites for the league and have out spent everybody AND have the bestest manager in the whole wide world. We haven't won for 4 games but our style and approach play has been magnificent. Roll on Sunday.

If say we are on a par with Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal, we don't stand out and are not going to walk the league like so many on here seem to think and are imo the least clinical and sloppiest out of the four. We haven't a cat in hells chance of winning the CL and one of four possibly six sides in the running for the PL.

We have a better side than Liverpool or Spurs without a doubt, Arsenal is a bit closer but we both have a soft underbelly, if we don't win the league it will be an underachievement but we have had years of that, when we do win it's never comfortable

Fucking joking surely. It's the fact that he is not working with what he has got. And anyway subsequent to the summer signings there is absolutely no team in the PL with a squad as good as ours. United and Liverpool miles off. Spurs have an excellent manager but how many of their players would you want. Arsenal are talented as always. We should walk the PL and if we don't then it will be Pep's intransigence that is responsible.

Spot on.

The team played well - just not able to convert. Not worried we will qualify from the group then it is all about match-ups. Not sure what everyone panicking was thinking - beating Barc at Nou Camp and topping group?
