Barca v City Post Match Thread

I thought Pep set us up well. We were creating more goal scoring chances than Barca up until the sending off.

The score did not reflect how competitive we were for most of the game. We need to cut out the mistakes and finish the chances we create.

We made 2 bad mistakes & 1 slip, & got punished - as u would expect against the best - they are without doubt the best attacking front line in world football, so keep that perspective.
For 50 minutes, we looked like we could "live" with them - which is a first at the Nou Camp. For the first time, I felt we belonged there.
We have a few players struggling for fitness, and a couple who may be past it, but we played pretty much the best available team that he could.
Facts are that we remain top of the league, & will almost certainly qualify from this champs league group, as tonight was p pretty much a free hit. Come January, we will have Gabriel Jesus available, & he IS going to transform us. So, don't have nightmares; sleep well.
Almost certainly qualify? How? Looks like we'll have to beat borussia away and that is not an easy ground to go to.

A little bit of perspective. They had the edge in attack(MSN is superior to every other attack in the world) but apart from that it was pretty even everywhere else with 11 men. The possession was also fairly even. Once Bravo went off it was all downhill but the performance up until that point was not bad at all. It was different from the previous years against Barca where the game was lost before it even started.

Everything was going well until the Bravo fuck up, had City been 2/3-1 up people couldn't have argued. We had the better chances and limited Barcelona to very little. Football is football and Bravo made a huge fuck up which cost us in the end what looks a beating.

I'm actually not that pissed off as I thought we did well.

Barcelona are soft cheating ****s as well.

And Otamendi. Not good enough.

We have one top class defender, Vincent K.

Stones if he was 25 rather than early 20's would not be good enough, but he has shown enough to indicate that he can become a top player, but purely down to the fact he is young, so great games follow bad & vice versa. Right now, he isn't a top class defender. Otamendi is proven average or below.

But irrespective, imo tonight was the best we have ever played in the Champs Lg, apart from the errors. By a long long way. The plan worked, the individuals didn't. We have had better defenders struggle worse due to shit setup. Tonight, was purely poor individual play.

We are outplaying pretty much every team we face, but are getting 'done' by nothing goals. Which is kind of how some of us would have expected tbf, but the start threw us into believing some players are better than they are. These are not unstoppable goals, they are not due to tactical or numerical or physical superiority, they are complete fuck ups. One after another. We have often stopped the difficult stuff & let in the stoppable.

Tonight the keeper joined in, again, but he wasn't to blame for the first or the third or the 4th or the pen, or responsible for the chance where a simple pass to Suarez right through the middle of our back 4 was enough to create a full on scoring chance which he saved, brilliantly. It's shit defending, largely by average or below average players, who are good one minute & shite the next. That goes in, which it will 8 times out of 10, & it's 2-0 without Bravo's fuckup. They also mised a free header prior to that due to nobody tracking a runer at a set piece, same move as Celtic but central.

All this whilst City are at least equal, maybe better in general play. It's shit defending, largely by average or below average defenders, who are good one minute & shite the next but have no instict for danger or acceleration to stamp it out. Which is why they are average defenders.

Barca's were just as bad tbf. Dogshit. Swap Silva for Messi & we win. But we don't have Messi, so we have to be better than Barca at the back. They have an advantage.

Barca did nothing to really merit a 2-0 by comparison to us & Celtic did nothing, to merit 2 goals, nor Everton a point etc

We are playing great football though, undermined by defensive mistakes & shite final ball.

Solving just one or the other, will win us the Prem. Solve both & we probably win everything inclusing the Champs League.

Solve neither & we will win fuck all.

And by the way folks, in the Celtic thread, I was right.

Our defending, is shit.

But we'll still win the league imo.

Lucky bastards the Catalans. Score flatters them. Messi was gifted by our own fuck ups three fucking times!!

KDB, Clichy, Kolarov, Stones not good. Nolito, Gundogan, Silva, Otamendi and Zabs okay. Great Willy still have the nous to stop penalties. Did Aguero touch the ball?

Had the Sheik make someone manufacture the Jimmy Grimble boots?

Tonight was a real downer. We played well for the most part but the scoreline and the manner of it feel like a real kick in the teeth.
