High risk of elections being delayed - even possibly canceled

According to government sources, if the municipal confinement is extended, it is very likely that the elections will not be held on January 24.

The decision will be taken this Friday in a meeting between the Ministries of the Interior, Health and Sports as well as Barça officials. The Barça club are working on the postponement scenario and even on a possible cancellation of the electoral process.

It’s sad to see.

I used to have a soft spot for Barca - I liked the fact they were proud Catalan outsiders who crashed the European party with a bang and changed the game back in the 90s, sticking it to the otherwise drab procession of the G14 in the process.

That team did it with heart, joy, a deep commitment to football as entertainment, and a sense of a style all of their own (well - borrowed from Ajax, with a Catalan twist, to give the Dutch their due!)

But they’ve done so much to tarnish their reputation these past few years - they seem to have systematically dismantled everything interesting, different and innovative about their club so now they’re just another insufferable member of the self-proclaimed ‘European elite’ - indiscernible from the Rags or Real or Bayern or any of their vapid ilk.

All swaggering arrogance with nothing remotely interesting or likeable to underpin all the noise.
