Barcelona Thread - 2022/23

Barca are now trying to say the contract renewal for deJong made by the previous board was corrupt and illegal and they are filing criminal charges. If, IF they were to succeed they wouldn't have to pay the money they owe him but surely it means he no longer has a contract so could sign for Chelsea on a free.
Have they thought this through?
Not being an expert on Spanish contract law (not yet, anyway), but I'd assume the terms of the previous deal come into play (they're only arguing the contract extension is invalid). His original contract ran until 2024, so that MAY still be in play.

If that's the case, then other players who signed contracts in that time may be able to use the precedent set the revert to previous deals, and if their previous deal had already expired, they could get out.

I just can't believe what is happening and what I'm reading.

Usually uefa release some sort of statement saying they are monitoring the situation, you know like they did when we had the cunts from der spiegel, the British press and the hateful 8 trying to ruin us.

Nothing will happen, it's Barcelona and that's about that.

How are they getting away with this... the media, with very few exceptions, have been deafeningly silent.

Pique took a pay cut to register Eric Garcia last year.
He's now took a pay cut to register Memphis Depay.

Should tell them to fuck off.

They've not had near enough the criticism they deserve.

I know Bernardo doesn't want to stay with us forever but he'd have to be out of his mind to go there.

Bartomeu and Laporta have run the club like complete cunts.

UEFA should honestly be doing more about that, it's far worse than any FFP infringement. Their treatment of Frenkie De Jong and in addition Ter Stegen and Lenglet has been nothing short of a disgrace.

I know it'll have already been said but imagine this was us... Fuck me we'd be hammered every minute of the day for such horseshit.

Rightfully so to be fair.

Hope that Tebas **** gets his office raided soon.
The FBI got itself involved in FIFA's dealings. Barcelona runs youth "academies" in the USA.

I don't know what the impetus would have to be for the FBI to turn their interest towards Barcelona but as they have business dealings under the Bureau's area of jurisdiction I'd assume it could be done? Would they article referring Tebas (I think it was him) wanting to bribe officials be enough?

Here is an article on their residency academy. They have, I believe, eight others that are not residential.
