Morning my fellow bluemooners!

I'm taking my Mrs to Barcelona next Friday for a long week end for her birthday......any tips on places to go etc?

Tibidabo Funicular railway leads you to a small amusement park and spectacular views of the city. I went there when I had a two night stay although it was mainly for my daughter I loved it up there. Same with Cosmo Caixa science museum which also has a rainforest enclosure.

Barceloneta is best for a trip to the beach if you have time.

Cheers chaps, have booked us in at the eurostars grand marina hotel that seems to overlook the port etc from the roof top? Decent nightlife around?

The open top buses do 4 interchangeable trips, for about €25 / person you can jump off and on depending where you want to go. The down side is you see alsorts of crap and are stuck in traffic. The answer and the far cheaper option by far is to plan where you want to see and get taxis, most drivers speak at least some English and will give some inside info on the places. Get to the Segrada Familia if you're going, early as the queues go round the dam thing.. KFC is bloody expensive but the fish market up the Rambla is worth while, the cheaper restaurants are on the streets running paralell to Las Ramblas. A trip round the Camp Nou is worth it and so is a wander round the sounvenier shop. Watch your pockets, seriously and just take what you need. It could still be a touch nippy if there's snow on the Pyrenees so, as my mum says, take a pully.

Really? That bad mate?

No it's not, I went in November with a group from uni - about 60 people. Only one got robbed of his iPod, it was at Passeig de Gracia metro stop. The people I were with had seen the group that did it, they looked dodgy apparently one of them fell into him and snatched it out of his hand. But I went round the markets near Las Ramblas, the metro ect all with a bag with a camera in it, my phone on etc and nothing happened. I would've thought I was an easy target too haha.

www.mussolrestaurant.com is nice. I quite liked going round the camp nou too and up montjuic.

Thanks for the replies everyone, much appreciated, if you remember other stuff keep chipping in thank you :-)

I've been here since Friday morning and I've not been robbed. However, I do have a strong impulse to rob.

There's a marathon running right through the city today and some Zumba classes in the streets; women love that shit.

I hope your flight landing time doesn't coincide with the Friday afternoon rush hour. It can take as long to get from the airport to your hotel as it does to fly to bloody Barcelona. Great city though.
