Barclays Player of the Year - VINCENT KOMPANY

both fully deserved. well done vinny and well done pardew as well.

especially good to see vinny rewarded for his skill, professionalism, leadership and dignity. a lesson there for the cheating **** that is wayne rooney.

I don't think I've ever agreed with a football award more than this. Both spot on, Mancini's brilliance is undeniable but Pardew arrived to a wave of hostility and look what he's turned them into. They've massively overtaken Liverpool and I wouldn't be surprised if they surpassed Spurs and were left fighting with Chelsea and Arsenal for 3rd and 4th next season.

Well done Vincent, very deserved.

Glad he's finally getting the recognition he deserves from the establishment. Been a hero to us all season. Arguably been best centre back in all of Europe this season.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has been crowned Barclays Player of the Season.

The defender, 26, has been instrumental in his side's resurgence in form since their defeat at Arsenal in early April.

Since that 1-0 loss - which looked to have eliminated them from the title race due to an eight-point deficit from leaders Manchester United - Roberto Mancini’s men have turned things around, conceding just once and scoring 15 times in their current run of five straight wins.

City started the season with a bang and led the league for large periods of the 2011-12 campaign despite limited success in European competitions.

A 6-1 thrashing of Manchester United at Old Trafford led many to believe they were certain to become Premier League champions this season.

Mancini's side ended April with a jubilant 1-0 win in the Manchester derby to complete the league double over Sir Alex Ferguson's men - the goal scored by Kompany from a corner just before the half-time whistle.

The club need to win at home - a feat that they have failed to accomplish only once so far this season - against QPR to secure their first Premier League title.

The Belgium international won the Players' Player of the Year and Supporters' Player of the Year at the club's end-of-season award ceremony.

Well deserved.
