Barry Silkman

bobby shinton was better than silko, in fact stuart lee was? i,m hard pressed to think of any player who silko was better than, no no barney daniels was definetly better? seriously though i remember mal fetching him in with him even living at mals house at his time here, he was a very confident lad but the turmoil at the club at that time was enough to do any players head in?

Was there any truth in that story about him telling Bobby Robson that he hoped his cancer would spread?
Shocking, if so. Hardly ties in with his advisory job at W Ham; what with their work for the Bobby Moore Trust, does it?
Still, it wouldn't be a surprise coming from a guy who announced Avram Grant's job was safe, on a racing channel, live from a dog track, between races.
Dreadful footballer.
Looks like the Isreali Army had a lucky escape, by the sound of the thread above.

(You can do your own jokes about not wanting to be in the trenches with a player like him)

i remember big mal signed him from plymouth - where mal had coached him previously and said something like "this boy will set the first division alight " ?

That is implausible since Silkman joined Plymouth in 1978 while Allison left there in 1965.

we farmed him out to tel aviv and he ran away when he realized being Jewish made him eligible for conscription!
He is a twat of a man now as an agent.
.
Soft shite didn't fancy doing a stint in the army, so he sh*t his pants and did one

Very vivid memories of him playing for us back in 79 not long after I started watching the blues.

Anyway don't know if this was a coincidense but he was on 5 live this morning telling Nicky Campbell about him trying to bring a player back into the country from Spain for a about £5mil. Deal fell through even though a fee was agreed between club even though he would have more than doubled his wages. The player didn't fancy it over here.

Wouldn't name the club or player. But then he did go on to harp on about when he was at City and we farmed him out to Maccabi Tel Aviv. Not sure if it was a coincidense him talking about us or whether he was trying to tie up a deal for someone Gago perhaps???
Remembe rhim scoring a fantastic goal against Ipswich & nothing else since
