Very rarely hits a 70 yard hopeful diagonal and doesn't score any from 30 yards, so I'm not sure what his purpose in a midfield is. Would bea great signing for Everton and would thrive under Martinez

Intercepting the ball and passing to our more creative players.

......and using his body position to win balls he has no right to. Not the most gifted player but a great pro. Anyone who doesn't appreciate the job he's done for us hasn't played the game or been watching it long enough......

As instrumental as anyone in the squad during the title season!

Everton interested in bringing Barry in on loan, with sharks circling for Fellaini

Everton have made an enquiry to take Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry on loan.

The 32-year-old has one year left on contract and is still part of Manuel Pellegrini's plans, however, he is unlikely to start and is interested in a temporary deal.

Everton have concerns over Darron Gibson's fitness after he injured a knee last week and remain wary of bids for Marouane Fellaini or John Heitinga.

Aston Villa and Arsenal have been linked with Barry but neither have contacted City.

City will also consider allowing Scott Sinclair to leave on loan with West Brom keen to strike that deal.

Pellegrini said: 'If he wants to go on loan to play more, we will try.'

If gaz is still part of pellers plans then i hope he stays,a few injuries and he can prove his worth

Would be gutted if this happens. Fair enough if he's not in MP's plans, get a fee for him, but I genuinely think he can still play a role in the team.

The problem being, although still being able,he is way down the pecking order.

That's neither healthy for him or the club.

I cant see us getting a fee when he's on 100k/week here.

Barry is my 3rd choice CM after Yaya and Fernandinho, we have to keep him.

He is more reliable than Garcia and Rodwell.

Nah I think Rodwell should get the nod this season. Was a bit nervy in his first few games but since then he's not put a foot wrong, hopefully he's past his injuries.

I'm not sure he is 'way' down the order! Behind Yaya and Ferna (although I'm only going off what people say about him, not seen him myself), Barry must be next in line for a place, Garcia is a non-entity, and Rodwell is still developing.

I think Pellegrini will play yaya and Ferdy as his first choices with Milner,Rodwell and maybe even Garcia, due to their versatility, getting bench places,i'm not sure Barry would even feature most games.

What I don't get is they are talking about Gareth replacing Flini but going on loan with City subsiding the wages. Why cant we just sell him? They'll have the cash. Why just run down his contract. Seems to be a situation peculiar to city eg Bridge and Santa.
