I think he would inject some much needed nastyness into their midfield. Plus we all know his playing ability if you can keep his head right. His goals more or less kept us up when Pearce was the manager and he seems to have matured since then. I think Fergie would have his work cut out trying to manage him, but he seems to be able to get the best out of Rooney who is a similar kind of liability.

A risky signing signing by Fergie which could completely backfire and damage the moral of the team or ground his burgeoning team of superstars and work out fantastically well for them.

That's an unfair comparison though as they were a very poor team.

Have a look at andy carrolls production,all assists almost by Joey.

Stick him in a top four side,sort his head out and he'll dominate.
