Never happy to see great players getting injured, but this doesn't exactly do us harm. He broke his collar bone and is out until early next year.

Bloody hell broken collarbone!? Crap news (admittedly good for us). Wish him the best for a speedy recovery.

thats a result for us - makes their team tick

Might get a result against us anyways depending on how you do against Napoli. You lose or tie and we beat Villareal then Bayern win the group regardless of what happens in Manchester. If that happens who knows what the mindset will be and who Heynckes will play.

Real shame, i'm a big admirer of him as a player but helps us!

Me too, I have always admired him, and I think he's probably one of the best three players in his position in the world.

For those who know Bayern well, - how does this effect the squad? Does it weaken the team noticeable having him out, or do they have an equally good alternative?

There are several ways of remodeling the first 11 to compensate for the injured Schweinsteiger but a lack of quality is still inevitable. The following two would be the most likely lineups.

-------------Gomez---------------
Ribery---------Kroos---------Müller
-----Gustavo----Tymoschtschuk---
Lahm--Badstub.--V.Buyten--Rafinha
--------------Neuer---------------

That would be a very defensive approach and will most likely be the linup vs. City.

or...

-------------Gomez---------------
Ribery--------Müller----------Alaba
------Gustavo--------Kroos-------
Lahm--Badstub.--V.Buyten--Rafinha
--------------Neuer---------------

I can see that one vs. Villarreal and in the Bundesliga.

A third option, though very unlikely would be the following:

-------------Gomez--------------
Ribery---------Kroos---------Müller
-----Gustavo---------Lahm--------
Contento-Badstub.-V.Buyten-Rafinha
--------------Neuer---------------

Lahm used to play as CM during his time in the bayern youth squads and in terms of creativity from CM paired with defensive stability this would propably be the ideal lineup.

that damn injury, put dzeko out for 3 months on my fifa career, wish him a speedy recovery but a bit of good news for us facing them!

I wonder if not Bayern's huge ego and clearly deserved belief in themselves will make them field an attack minded squad at the Etihad?

Thanks for the reply hideniton!

He is to Bayern what Silva is to you. Except they're completely different players, they have the same "make it work" effect.

Also hideniton isn't Robben back for them now, meaning he'll almost certainly feature on the right wing? If thats the case you can expect them to play a very tight game in the middle of the park (especially attempting to deprive Silva of space) and hit you on their incredibly strong wings.
